I don't like where this is going. Let me preface this by saying I love GOL as our football coach. But IMHO it is an absolute mistake to make him our athletic director. It goes beyond just football, especially when it comes to the other sports and the business aspects of it all. We need someone who will connect extremely well with boosters and potential donors and sorry but GOL is not that guy.

They may be doing a detailed search and needed to fill the space in for a while. Also, I know they want to get a BIG 12 person or such for AD. They are probably going to wait a bit to see what happens with realignment and the other assistant ADs (in the big 12 or other) who want to jump ship and come to UCF. JMHO

There is always an interim guy to handle the paperwork and sign the checks as it were. When KT left, Harms came in and sat at the seat. Don't read anything into this other than they needed a guy, it is the off-season and he was available.

I actually like this move. You can't argue the good he's done as far as discipline, grades, etc. If the expectations he has for various sports translated into firing DJ, then I'm all for it.

He does need to step away from FB though if he is going to do this.

Football team is going to take a big step back the next couple of years.. not sold on Brent Key; listened to the guy do an interview and he didn't seem like he had the highest IQ, to put in nicely..

Also, interested to see if and how this will impact our recruiting.... Granted GOL isn't the one doing all the leg work, he is still talked about and sold to prospects..

There were plenty of other Univ personnel who could have easily sat in the seat, handled the paperwork and signed the checks...but they were not named...and its pretty obvious as to why they weren't and why GOL was at this "high profile" time.
