GOL has a scratchy voice, he mentions the late arrival coming home on Sunday.

"There were some positives, I couldn't find many but I did find a couple. One was the fanbase. They did a great job showing up to the game and we should have played better for them. Same issues on both sides, the areas we had to replace. We have to correct it quickly. Secondary and receivers, beating coverage and dropping balls. That stalls drives."

On the Holman injury:

"We spent the whole week doing a game plan just for that QB, third play of the game he's out. He'll be out 2-4 weeks. You put the two freshmen in, the six dropped balls don't help. You gotta keep working with the kids. The effort is good, but we're not sustaining the whole game. The key to the game was that fumble. We were moving the ball, McGowan was getting some yards, then the fumble. Momentum shifted and they throw the double pass on us for a TD. The wheels came off after that."

GOL didn't want to get "gory" about his injury, but noted he'll be back. "Hopefully he's back sooner than they're saying. It's the throwing hand, that's the problem. You gotta be able to squeeze the ball. He'll be back as soon as he can. No excuses. We've gotta move on."

Marc mentioned how the defense was keeping them in the game early.

"We gave up some yards, but we kept the ball in front us." GOL added later on it was younger kids trying to make a play, says they take the blame on coaching for that. Says you can't drop balls. Those kill drives. "That's what moves the chains."

Stanford can be a physical team. GOL said they had four huge guys playing TEs.

"We've got to play tougher. That's the whole key to what's going on. I told the kids we had the same record last year. This team is young in a lot of areas. We have to keep it simple for them. My voice is shot. Keep it simple so they can use their athleticism."

On RB Taj McGowan:

"Great quickness, vision is improving. That's why I like him. People ask about the other backs. Wilson is still out. C.J. Jones is going to get playing time this week and so is Michael Willett. Got to keep working with the kids. Losing is contagious and so is winning. Got to keep a positive state of mind."

On the Stanford crowd, more than 1,000:

"I said our fans were the only positive of that game. I wasn't happy with the plays given up." Mentions the screen. "You're not young after your first game."
