He isn't good without an excellent OC.
Actually GOL without Taffe or Friedgen is atrocious. The numbers don't lie.
GOL with Taffe or Friedgen: 89-38, 5 conf championships, 1 losing season.
GOL without Taffe or Friedgen: 44-56, 1 conf championship, 5 losing seasons.
I'm not sure why you huggers continue to carry water for him. He isn't good without an excellent OC.
So your gripe is that he hired a competent OC?Kind of scary to think of. Prior to Taffe, GOL had losing seasons in 2004, 2006, and 2008. He only had 2 winning seasons without Taafe. 2005 and 2007. We had winning seasons in 5 of Charlie's 6 here. 2011 was the only blemish. I figured we would miss him a lot. He's a very experienced and creative coach.
Neither is any other program if they have shitty coordinators. So is the gripe in this thread that he made a good hire at OC with Taaffe? You're right, that is his fault. It's called a football program for a reason. Sure, someone is the face of it but any successful program has good personnel at all levels.Actually GOL without Taffe or Friedgen is atrocious. Taaffe is doing color analysis for UCF games on 740 AM, sitting just a few feet away from where he sat as offensive coordinator. Do any of you find it hard to believe that no one would consult him for ideas about the offense?
