Luckily, I'm Baptist, so he's just another weird, rich guy to me. I would like the hear the comments of the resident Catholics, however.

Anyone who makes weapons or invests in weapons industries is a hypocrite if they call themselves Christian, Pope Francis said Sunday.

Francis issued his toughest condemnation to date of the weapons industry at a rally of thousands of young people at the end of the first day of his trip to the Italian city of Turin.

"If you trust only men you have lost," he told the young people in a long, rambling talk about war, trust and politics after putting aside his prepared address.

"It makes me think of ... people, managers, businessmen who call themselves Christian and they manufacture weapons. That leads to a bit a distrust, doesn't it?" he said to applause.

He also criticized those who invest in weapons industries, saying "duplicity is the currency of today ... they say one thing and do another."

LOL, I guess he forgot about the Crusades. Most Catholics are liberals though so he's just pandering to them.

I'm not a fan of Pope Francis. I think it's an extremely short sighted position. Without weapons the free world could not defend itself or others against oppression. Without weapons there is no "democratic" government and therefore no free-market capitalism. When you have no democratic government, you have dictatorships and communism, both of which are contrary to Christian/Catholic doctrine.

This Pope is whack. First he condemns the US for not preventing the Holocaust. Then in the same speech he condemns guns. How the frick could we have "prevented" the Holocaust without guns?!?! He is beyond liberal. He is a pandering goof ball.

Right. So he officially blessed a military campaign to rid the world of ISIS, noting the sheer evil that their existence in this world brings, yet now says this. I truly wonder if he remembers everything he says sometimes. Perhaps he thinks that ISIS can be defeated with rocks.

There are a lot of Christians in the Middle East, under medieval type persecution from ISIS, who would absolutely love some of these arms in question. Instead of being slaughtered and tortured in the middle of the night, they might just have a chance of living.

Hes bashing the IMC...hes bashing the people that make money off of people dying...

Eisenhower warned us of the same $#!t because he saw the writing of the wall and its about time another major political player said the same thing...

he would love for there to be no need for weapons but he knows that world probably isnt happening any time soon.

anyone with 1/2 a brain knows why fab likes ratzinger better and it has nothing to do with weapons...

aside from lisa, you people, even the dumbass catholics went full on retard...full on f#$king retard...

WHAT THE ACTUAL FU$K can he do about the fu$king crusades? and how the FU$K are the times anywhere near similar...my god you people are beyond stupid

Where did the pope say "no guns"? Seems to me he called out those who call themselves Christians yet profit off of death... and yes, certain lobbies have convinced the dumb that gun ownership is much more important to their safety than it actually is, and they've done so purely for profit. Pope has every right to call out that bullshit. He should also call out the uneducated and gullible for allowing it.

The typical boobs show up. Like clockwork.

I eagerly await the condemnation of anyone who invests in fast food, soda companies, sugar extracts, mass produced food and slaughterhouses, alcohol companies, and ice cream companies. Afterall, obesity and heart disease, along with cancer, are the biggest killers in the world by a margin that isn't even comparable.

How can someone be a Christian while peddling sugary drinks that are knowingly terrible for people and will ultimately result in thousands of deaths? They're not Christians! Real Christians would abandon their jobs at Pepsi or Coke immediately!

Also, the Vatican is largely guarded by the Italian Armed Forces, which is of course an extension of the Italian Government. The same Italian Government that has a controlling stake in 6 different weapons manufacturers in Italy, including Beretta which happens to be the most prolific pistol in military service today.

Clearly they're not Christians and the Vatican should be moved somewhere without such conflicts, such as perhaps Libya or Egypt.

It just sounds crazy since the anti war movement's dead. Now people like you & me sound like kooks when we ask
what good came out of toppling Saddam or is Iraq better now than it was? War didn't work, let's try more war, but they have all the money/power so they can convince Joe the Plumber to drink consume beer, watch football, & bomb durkas for "freedom"

Don't question the TV, slave.

And who would have thought marino would be mindlessly tossing around conspiracy theories about the "MIC" boogeyman. Shocking twist to this one, folks!

By the way, are you ashamed yet that you frequently linked to Infowars on this site to push your insane conspiracy theories, now knowing that this is also a page that Dylan Roof frequented before executing 9 black people?

Gluttony is one of the seven deadly sins.

.

Let's use a little common sense. No pope is going to come out and say that guns are good and then preach the 10 commandments with thou shall not kill. The pope as the leader of the roman catholic church is going to be the tip of the spear in the tenets of the religion. His official views are always going to be strict black and white because that is what the office of pope does.

As far as practicing what he preaches, he is far more accessible than any of the other more recent popes.

Liberals have come out against all the things you mention. There are many who would love to educate people more and place more warnings on products that are absolute junk... They're usually derided as "over-regulating job killers" by the snakes that peddle that shit.

I'm not sure if it's hilarious or sad to see religious people infected with GOP ideology starting to go against the church every time GOP ideology is challenged... It's the reason so many people are bolting from Christianity, because they don't want to be associated with the GOP slime balls that have tried to make the religion their own.

Pope =/= Church. He's no different than the Queen of England. He's preaching politics from the pulpit. Big nono for a lot of people.

Would it be a nono if he were preaching the politics that local churches spoon feed to the gullible blobs that pack the pews every week? Only reason people are up in arms about the pope taking stands on political issues is because his stands don't mesh with the lies that are told every week in most churches.

He also said anyone who is an earth hugger and Global warming believer should not agree with abortion.

I've never heard a priest preaching politics. You do know the Pope is Catholic right? Westboro Baptist hates the Pope as much as they do gays.

The priest at my church preaches politics all the time. It drives me batty. He is an advocate of the welfare state and Obamacare because he is misguided in that they help poor people.

What source do you have to back up this post?

actually the pope does = the roman catholic church and the 5 other orthodox churches...and he is by canon infallible...most of us just pick and choose what we want from the church regardless of what he says (Im guilty of it too)...but this man may bring some positive change...the best thing he has said so far is the church worries too much about homosexuality and abortion and not enough about the poor...

and i cant understand how calling out people who make money off of death is a bad thing...i didnt see him call out gun makers, i saw him calling out people who have kept the united states in a constant state of warfare since 2001 and have made money off of it...

UCFEE has such a hard on for everything conservative. He's so infested with drug culture Denver politics that he literally has warped his entire way of thinking into this boogeyman conspiracy attitude where the meanie GOP and all like minded people are out to get him.

He literally just said that the POPE is saying things that disprove what Churches preach. LOL!!!!

UCFEE is surely the guy you see who has 45 liberal bumper stickers plastered over his Honda Insight.

Since every military operation is authorized by either Congress through war powers vote or authorization, or the President, I'd like to take this opportunity for you to show with actual proof where and how these people have made money from keeping us in "constant state of warfare since 2001".

And I don't want some nut job Infowars article; I want something that actually has a shred of credibility. You say this so often that SURELY you can point to verifiable instances where the politicians voting for military operations have explicitly benefited financially from companies involved in supplying the military, yes?

I'm sure you have this info well documented, since you're always diligent about backing up your arguments, and I will now wait patiently for your well organized cache of information.

Exactly the response I expected. You are literally incapable of putting forth an argument without going into conspiracy and then getting butthurt. You've been calling a lot of people "retarted" lately; it seems even your conspiracies are drying up on you.
