Some of you may remember me, I was on here last time GT and UCF played. Wanted to stop in and see any suggestions on parking? Me and my wife are celebrating our anniversary in Orlando this year and have decided to attend the game.

Also, how is UCF suppose to look this year. What are some strengths and weaknesses?

Welcome back and hope you have a wonderful time in Orlando!

For UCF, I think the weakness/big question is how "synced" the Oline is right now, but I do know that it is quite experienced, and has beefed up. Overall the average height of the OL is massive.

QB, WRs and RBs are pretty deep right now. Perhaps close to 2017 or 2013 in terms of available targets and impact players. We THINK QB is in good hands with Plumlee. First couple of games will tell us. I believe he will be fine with the plethora of tools and targets available to him.

Defense? Many transfers in, especially LB. They have experience and have been highly touted, so the potential weakness there is likely their timing, how well they communicate. Team adjustment stuff.

DBs...should be capable.

DE/DL? Look out....train coming. Can't find much weakness there this year. We'll know instantly first game.

So, quid pro quo...what's the skivy on the Jackets?

First of all congrats!

Parking is a pain in the butt. There is a church off site (off McCulloch road) that does parking for $20 and you can walk over. Free parking is farther away from the stadium but doable. Depending on where you are staying it might be advisable to uber.

This site has a bunch of good info for you:

We're gonna be wild dogs on defense, offense should be real good.

Parking isnt bad at all unless you don't want to walk a lot (which is understandable). I always park in Garage A as it's the first garage if you enter through the entrance on University Blvd. Yes, it's probably the farthest from the stadium but by the time you walk back afterwards you're an easy exit out of there. A is free, and you have a nice little walk through a part of the campus and go into the student union if you want a little break. Then you can walk up the memory mall and see everyone tailgating. I always walk this way and crack open a beer for the walk.

To me this would be the ideal GameDay experience for someone who is visiting and wants to get a feel of the ambience rather than parking off campus or super close to the stadium but to each their own..

The caveat of course is that in my scenario I'm not lugging anything around or need to return to the car. Bring one of those disposable ice bags from the supermarket with some beer and throw it all out before the game starts.

As for the team, by all accounts they are in contention to win the conference and be very good, but we will see how things go with QB play. Skill positions are very good and deep. Defense is improved with a supposed very good secondary.

Welcome, hope you have fun.

We are a mixed bag, with large unknowns at a few positions (QB, D-line, kicking, and LB). Should be solid everywhere else.

Thanks for the info! I honestly don’t know what to expect. We knew changing from the triple to what we run now would be difficult. I wasn’t expecting much the first two years but we should have been a 6 win team last year (lost 5 games by single digits).

As for this year so much has changed. We went from 2 coaches with power 5 experience to 6. We also added I believe 15 transfers.

Long new OC (coached against y’all in 2016 bowl game against Memphis I believe) was good at ND.

Turner new DL coached Brian cox and Myles Garrett and 19 of past 20 years In the SEC

Weinke new QB coach NFL and power 5 experience and Heisman Winner.

Tillman new DB coach and coacheunder Mel Tucker.

As for the field we are really strong at RB, Sims should be solid at QB, WR we are not consistent from what I’ve heard. OL should be much improved with transfers from Bama, Clemson, Kentucky, and Kansas. Also picked up a TE in the portal that runs a 4.4.

On defense I’m worried about DT a little because of depth. We will need some guys that haven’t played a lot step up. DE should be pretty good with White healthy (transferred last year as a top DE but got injured in the off season. LB should be slightly above average. CB should be good. I’m not sure what to think about safeties though.

I think this team could win 5 games or even 8 depending on how they mesh as a team.

Awesome! Thank you! Is parking C pretty close? I don’t want to walk a lot with already going to universal studios lol

UCF will be fancing a string of dual-threat QBs, right from the start with FCS SC State. Sims is very capable...

We tailgate / walk to the game from C and it’s usually only ten-fifteen minutes or so, depending on how enthusiastic tailgating got 😅

Parking lot C is a paid lot. You won’t get to park there unless you bought it.
Arrive early enough and the free lots (further) won’t be a problem finding a spot.

I do not suggest an Uber or ride share because it can be peak charges.

I actually used to like Ubering from SoDo to UCF if I wasn’t bringing my kids to do some drinking and not worry about the driving. Easy to get an Uber coming from Downtown to UCF, but is kind of a pain to get an Uber leaving, especially as they close down the roads. One time my buddy and I got an Uber ride by LB Rico Kearney’s mom who was just visiting. He was in the passenger seat, while he was sitting out after his transfer from VT. I always thought he was going to play and crush and I told him how excited I was he transferred in, but it just never happen. He seemed really excited that I knew who he was and at the great game day environment we had going on, he was really excited about playing the next year. Don’t know what happened to him.

Oh and btw, Rico’s mom wouldn’t get kicked out of any beds. Couldn’t drive for shit but she was good looking af.

Dude, this was such an awesome post. It’s funny to read, because I’ve done the EXACT THING multiple times. With the Thursday evening game next week and the Friday Louisville game, to avoid getting stuck in the D1 lot, I’ll be doing that exact thing to get back home and to work the next morning. I’ll definitely be cracking open a 24 ounce can of my favorite beer for the walk as well. 6 more days! 👍

If a Friday or Saturday game just go to the bar for an hour or 2 until the prices drop back down.

unless you are the tailgate host rather walk farther and park on the other side of campus. and it is a nice walk bc you are just cutting through the middle of campus.

go with Garage B across from the Rec Center or Garage A

I Uber a bunch just cause I don't want to be drinking and driving and I've found walking to the BP gas station right there across campus makes it way easier for Uber to get you for when it's time to depart. My .02
this should be something that someone should let AD Terry know. Create a designated Uber/Lyft pick up area like a lot of nfl and nba venues do so there will be like 20 waiting before the game is over

Braves stadium does this here in Atlanta and I can be in and out of rideshare within 10 mins max. Passengers could lineup next to Arena for example and Ubers have to use that road only to pickup and dropoff so that traffic isnt circling the campus etc. The drivers seem to like it too

A few years ago at FAU their campus police wouldnt let Uber drivers pick you up where busses pick people up. He made us walk a half mile away and threatened all the drivers with tickets if they let us in by bus stop. They were being stupid.

It almost is a must have for any stadium now. When new stadium opened up here they had Uber corporate staff on site for first few games to essentially guide fans and drivers on where to go etc. now signage does a nice job directing you where to be picked up. Mind boggling that some stadiums ignore this approach

Is the gold zone easy to get on game day?

Ha! Actually last season I went with a friend and he hadn't been on campus in a while. During our walk through the student union we noticed they were selling pizzas from Dominos for like 8 bucks. We grabbed one and we were just discussing how we hope they still have that deal. Last game I went to had a rain delay and Jimmy John's (RIP) next to the arena ran out of food lol

I shot TM a tweet about it. Great idea!
I actually looked at campus from ggogle earth and TM could totally set this up on the circle surrounding student union. Ubers can line up around the circle and pickup their riders and then route them out to Alafaya.
