Gus has proven himself a liar. Those high school play calls are Gus’s trademark. Total fail. This offense will be limited to the extent he has any say.

Every article and announcer brings up that he is an offensive genius for what he did a decade ago. He's not going to let go of the offense.

It's just uncanny how he pulls out these trick plays in critical situations and they blow up in his face so frequently. While the offense is cruising down the field. Reminiscent of pulling Keene after he drives for 60 yards, to have Gatewood get stuffed on a QB run.

Are you surprised?

Gus is one of the greatest offensive innovators of all time. He makes the play call sheet. It says call such and such play in this situation.

Who cares?

This was not a good match for UCF. But it won.

As long as UCF is averaging 600 yards of total offense and 8+ yards per play, a circus clown can calls the plays for all I care.

That’s my point, 600 yards but can’t get into the end zone because he’s a drive killer when he tries to be cute with his stupid trick plays. You march up and down the field and then kills all momentum trying to be an offensive genius. And why lie that he gave up play calling? Did he do that crisp at Auburn?

YES!

I have been telling you guys that over and over. How many times and ways do I have to say it?

Of course he is still running the offense and calling plays. Why do you think he surrounds himself with Yes Men? Old goat is a liar.

Great win for the team. Football isn't always clean and pretty but they battled through adversity to win. Add 14 points to UCF score and this is what you get on a good day when the WRs execute properly. Not to mention overthrow to open receiver at end of game but it was about the team believing that they would win in a tough environment. We should like that

Well the guys played hard. Congrats to Boise State. Hopefully uat will lose.

You are SO RIGHT 100% of the time.

Why do we lowly UCF peasants even question your mighty wisdom?

Yeah, his staff needs to say something...and not just b_tching about it like a petulant child, but bring stats/facts. Those trick plays have not been efficient, and like pointed out, drive/point killers. I didn't mind the 2 pt conversion decision but running the same play with Harvey doing nothing was unacceptable. If he had pitched it to Plumlee that could have had a much different outcome. As executed, though, you might as well have just conceded the 2pt conversion and not even run the play. Even the Wild Knight plays have not been good so far because McDonald looks very tentative out there. The color analyst pointed that out. No excuse either as McDonald had a whole year of practice last season to get ready for this season.

I have a lot of reservations about Richardson at RB as well. Not because he's not super-talented but because he can be a drive-killer. He goes down too easily. Problem is he only busts plays out for bigger chunks every 4-5 plays. If it was 3-4 he might work but 4-5 means he'll kill drives, otherwise Plumlee has to make crucial 3rd-down and long plays (and few teams can consistently be successful doing that). Killins wasn't that different but the difference was our offense, in general, was way, way better and could overcome it. We need another RB to step up. I still don't know why MAR doesn't get reps. He must be one of the worst practicers because when he does get in games he's still "5-yards and a cloud of dust". His plays always seem to finish with him falling forward. 1 carry last week for 6 yards and a TD.

The play calling gave us two walk in touch downs and a comfortable lead. Not sure what Harvey saw on that pass he never threw and Baker had one of the easiest touchdowns he’ll ever have.

September is the month to watch for development to determine our chances with the meaningful games in the conference. Speaking of conference Cincinnati will probably be a similar game for us like Boise. Our greatest competition will be those teams on the cutting edge of getting into P5. Then as we prove ourselves worthy there will be a new small group of rivalry teams that will arise in BIG 12. Going to be a good season as this group fights to improve and win every game. I can say that much about this season.

He is a "showboater" isn't he?

He's not a showboater. What I would like to know is the conversations he has in private with Malzahn. There is an obvious close relationship between the two. All we hear in conferences is how Plumlee has to play it safer and not take unnecessary risks/hits and the opposite happens on the field. We also hear that Malzahn does not call plays and relenquish control of the offense and the opposite happens on gameday.

Is Plumlee really defying coaches every week or Malzahn is encouraging this style of play?

He is a highly competitive showboater who would rather run than throw.

I want points. Not yards. JRP needed to give RBs the ball more. Too much hero ball.
Agree with the point but my man, yards are also a symptom of offensive success. We were in a perfect position for us to have 14 more points on the board. The reasons why we didn't are not on JRP, or the playcalling. The Baker call in particular was great and JRP executed it perfectly.

That said 1000% Yes absolutely I'd be thrilled to have RJ run a passing play twice in a season instead of twice a game. That is ridiculous.

I hope we get to see him run any play the rest of the year. He looked good on Saturday but injury doesn’t look good

I am genuinely interested to see what he can do, especially with it being Villanova. If it was against K-State I'd be feeling much worse!
I suspect the same. Not a knock on jrp but timmy will escape pressure with his eyes downfield looking for a wr to come open when coverage breaks down. Jrp’s instinct is to haul ass but often he misses a wide open wr doing so
