Wow, Dillon leaves and Gus counters with just BOOMING talent coming in!!! I am really amazed at what Gus is doing.

I don't think anyone else (with Gus' history, reputation, and personality) could have done this or be doing this!!

Not only the 9-4 season but beating Florida too!!

Now the awesome news coming in daily! Feels like an extended Christmas morning! (also we beat Memphis last knight so it's double BOOM!) :)

Thoughts?

It’s definitely changing the narrative. Makes you wonder how many players were leaving knowing that a whole bunch of talented players were coming in.

Titus leaving seemed like a loss, but we’re looking at one of our best receiving corps ever. I’d rather him get playing time at UCLA than be our fifth string receiver.

True. Bethune going to FSU was also I guy I'd like to have back :)

True, there have definitely been some losses. I wasn’t the biggest DG fan, but he would look pretty good with our skill players and defense.

Short term, I’m impatient and I want to keep those guys, but long term, if they don’t fit the culture or the new systems, it’s better for everyone if we put the guys that do in earlier.

Bethune should have listened to KZ latest comments when he said 'the grass isn't always greener on the other side' referring to his FSU transfer. UCF will be better than FSU next year.

I'm also wondering if only us UCF fans are paying attention. There isn't much in the way of National coverage of UCF. No mentions or anything. Alls Quiet on The Western Front...

BOOM !

I get notifications from national sports news about UCF all the time.

I still don’t get the Bethune transfer. All others I totally understand, even DG now only after knowing NIL and socks took precedent over playing. I’m still excited about Terrence Lewis’ potential and speed. I hope he’s healthy and comes with some fire, he could be a potential upgrade.

Our team may have gotten way better with these transfers (and recruits), multiple proven starters, not just guys buried behind depth like usf’s transfers. Add in the younger guys with more experience, the group of super seniors coming back and Jarvis Ware’s return too, he’s the forgotten man. I’m excited for next year, just need to figure out the QB situation.

More than than fsu not being good is that playing time can become a big issue. You know he was going to get some good looks here at UCF. Does not make sense. But then again Kobe leaving Auburn does not make sense unless he was kicked off

Auburn guy leaves Auburn to play for coach that recruited him, UCF guy leaves UCF to play for coach that recruited him. So many high profile transfers were players that left to reunite with a coach they worked closely with previously.

Which he was kicked off.

The only thing I want now is to get enough quality transfers to jump the heifers

I understand. But as it has been stated, “Auburn guy” didn’t leave he was kicked off the team for differences with coaching staff and decided to transfer to a place he was comfortable with the coaching staff. Not exactly the same thing.

Bethune was LB1 and also seemed to have clicked with Twill and even thrived in his system. UCF is a better team, he has 1 year left, to me it doesn’t seem like a smart move for his future that’s all.

Caleb Williams is all but announced as transferring to USC and he was QB1 for Oklahoma.

I'm glad to see recruiting doing this well in his first year, especially since the sparse talent brought in by the last few classes. But to be honest, if we want to compete for titles in the B12 this is gonna have to be the norm to keep up with schools like Ok St etc. Its exciting too, but I definitely want to see us turn things back around to competing for conference titles before I praise Gus as the messiah.

Is it possible some of the transfers know they could get better numbers at UCF being in the AAC?
...and also play in Orlando!
Getting the promise of playing time is a huge factor and will continue to benefit us going forward. I forget the OL's name but he accepted UCF over others because of it. The dynamic is quite the same as a new recruiting coming out of HS.

Still time left in the day?
I'm sure you read the other threads but in case you didn't we signed 3 quality PWO's from local HS's.
5 Star LS Aidan Fedigan (best in the country)
3 Star QB Davin Wydner (247 has him as 4th best QB in the FL class of '22)
UR TE Thomas Wadsworth (man amongst boys in his highlights)
Impressive.....

Time to ramp up and pay for their tuition etc. like BYU does for every walk on, or the BYU millionaire booster.

Yes, I'd rather have a 5 star QB than a long snapper, but I believe the position is highly underrated and UCF has a history of getting guys paid at that position.

Fun story - my father is a long time Cleveland Browns fan and until the past few years buying a jersey was pointless (they are still bad, but a Myles Garrett may make it). I convinced him about 4 years ago to get a jersey for someone that may be around after a year or two. He is still rocking the #47 jersey of UCF grad Charley Hughlett - dude has been in the NFL almost a decade now.
