Gus MUST be fired much sooner than later!

Gus earned $1,125,000 per win. That's not too bad. That's more than we pay the smaller visiting schools for a non-conference game. They were talking about expanding the tower tonight. Terry deserves credit for getting financial support for that. But, it will not be sold-out if the team doesn't improve or show some positive changes. Just firing assistant coaches and assigning blame for bad play calling to subordinates will not cut it anymore. Every assistant coach could be replaced, but if Gus returns, the results will be just as bad. Terry should have never agreed to the raise and contract extension after a losing season in 2023. Keeping Gus for another year will shrink the buyout, but it won't eliminate it. Maybe keeping him for another year saves 4-5 million, but how much do we lose in revenue if he returns? People have to realize the financial damage and damage to the reputation of the football program that we risk if we bring him back.

Terry can't afford the buyout and is hoping Gus can turn it around and win 7 games next year. He'll keep him around for one more year if Gus can do that. Seems winning 6 or 7 games is the acceptable standard now?

Problem is, our program is in a downward trajectory. Who are we excited about next year? Myles Montgomery looked good. John Walker will probably be our best player. Other than Walker, who are our stars that will "carry" us? Gus is known for his recruiting and has hit on guys like Baker, Hudson, and some other transfer. But his HS classes are obviously young and inexperienced. I don't expect HS recruits to be physically and mentally ready until their 3rd year. There will always be 2-3 who can contribute immediately, but those guys are usually freaks who will be playing Sundays. Gus hasn't recruited many of those.

We need 5 NFL caliber players and another 5 above average college players to sniff 9 wins. That's probably what we had when UCF was winning championships. Gus better bring in a stellar transfer and HS class. Otherwise, we may not win 3 games next year. That TCU game could have..and probably should have easily gone the other way. Hard to believe I don't expect more than 4 wins next year.

TCU is going for 8 wins today after that debacle. Shows what a good HC, OC and Oline coach can do. We have none of that here
