Gus sick of weeknight games

Gonna have to wait and see. If Big 12 signs a new deal , weekday games could be added for more money. Right now the networks hold the power. Not the schools.

I don’t mind one once in a while, but four in the first six weeks of the season is ridiculous. Even if one wasn’t supposed to be a weeknight game, three is still ridiculous.

True, and I wouldn’t count on a middle of the pack (or worse) team in the 3rd or 4th best conference getting many games televised.

These weekday games are terrible for attendance too. There are lots of tickets available on Ticketmaster for tomorrow's game. Looks like the crowd might be weaker than the SMU game. I want to go, but I can't make a Thursday game since I am three hours away.

bc it eliminates the season ticket holders that live in Florida but not Orlando anymore. The opening game on Labor Day weekend? Maybe they take the extra day but not this much

1 Thursday and 1 Friday with the rest Saturdays would be good. The whole Thursday night labor day thing against FCS to open the season needs to end. Very hard to justify taking off work for that when there are more weekday night games slated later in the season against interesting opponents.

Even Sunday on Labor Day is better. No NFL and no work the next day. But just play on Saturday.

Hasn't that been something UCF athletics have pushed for, its been like that 8-9 times out of the last 12 years.

Yeah, and everyone says it's because athletics wants the long holiday weekend. Like, sorry, let's try to do what's best for the program, maybe? You can have a long President's day weekend off or something.

yes. They commit to put it on Thursday way before any tv guarantee. They don’t care and want their 3 day weekend

Thursdays are terrible. I can handle Friday night games. I would rather have two Friday night games if we have to schedule two-weekday games. I live in the real South Florida. I could just make it by game time after work for a weeknight game. So Fridays are not ideal, but I make it work. It sucks missing tailgating for those games. Everything is rushed and I can't enjoy any of the pregame activities. I will not take off of work for most of our games, especially when there against teams like SC State or Temple. So Thursdays are always out for me. Apparently, I am not the only one, I have a hard time selling my season tickets even when I set the price to $6 for Thursday night games.

Wasn't the SC State game only on ESPN+. Why did that game have to be on a Thursday? It wasn't even on a real TV channel.
Just guessing here... Hasn't UCF made a habit of scheduling a Thursday night game before the Labor Day weekend to open their season?

A good example of why I don't believe the stuff about the TV networks telling us when we have to play games. Maybe we get pushed around on a Saturday to get upgraded coverage (eg: hey if you start at 4 we'll put you on ABC), but it's hard to believe ESPN has any leverage to move us to Thursday night on their finest streaming channel.

I am a season ticket holder who lives 10 hours away . Stop your whining 😂. I couldn't make the SMU game nor tonight's game . I loathe weeknight games especially when they are at home .

I'm pretty sure the only school who would want to trade for our Week Day Warrior games would be BYU since they actually prefer to take the Sabbath off if they are given the option.

Big 12 and their tv partners require X amount of weeknight conf games so UCF will still probably play 2 or 3 next year too.
That statement is based on what?

Quick math says that you're talking 20-30 times a b12 team will play on a day other than Saturday (10 teams times "2 or 3"), sometimes playing one another. Looking at the schedule this year. 4 teams in the b12 played one game not on Saturday. Three were in week 1 (Thursday/Friday, where a lot of teams played), and Baylor on week 7.

MAC plays the most during the week, but also the PAC.

What can you cite which says this is going to go up 5x-7x next year?

With the jump from 10 teams to 14 teams in the Big 12 as tv timeslots on Saturday will dwindle..so the Conf wants to spread out the games over more days (Marc Daniels hinted to this last week) so I wouldn't be shocked to see UCF have 2 or 3 weeknight games next year.

Also...add in attractive non-conf games that may also want weeknight exposure, this could happen as UCF has a road games next year (under the opponents tv deal) at Boise State.

WVU has already played 3 weeknight games (2 of those games were at ACC schools).

Its either more national Thur/Fri night games or more Sat ESPN+ games...and almost every school would prefer the weeknight game slot.

Weeknights are for MACtion.
ESPN pushed MACtion back to November this season.
Big mistake.

I personally LOVE MACtion. Im an UBER CFB fan that bets on a ton of CFB though so there is that to consider. Historically, the MAC and Sunbelt have been great to bet on (not this year though).
