haiti in chaos

I have a friend down there working with the Haiti Mama organization and shes been posting pictures on facebook of the riots. Says its pretty scary but the rioters have been very protective of her organization and the people involved. They are super pissed off about the govt raising fuel prices.

They're looting businesses for food, but those businesses are in the same position as everyone else. They need gas to power generators that keep food cold. Utter chaos and typical of mob mentality.

Meanwhile, the ruling elites live in mansions and eat lobster. SMH.

But that only happens in capitalism.* ;)

My main thought on Haiti after viewing videos of the disaster is, why are so many Haitians wandering around the streets and hangin' out on blankets when so many of their family/tribe are trapped in the rubble? Why aren't they frantically digging trapped people out? Instead they're sitting around waiting for help to arrive when help is already there by the thousands but lies dormant because they're too lazy.

Silence from the usual suspects here

Kinda like you in the thread about Trump ripping children from their families. Except that thread was multiple pages long.

Oh thats right you aren't a hypocrite....because you said so.

Hypocrite.

What are you all going on about? How is any of this tied back to Chelsea Clinton's wedding lol

Haiti sucks ... really bad. Sorry if that offends you ... what the "people in power" in that country have done to the country and it's citizens is remarkably horrible.

I'm pretty sure that white people aren't responsible for how Haiti has decimated their natural resources over the last 70 years.

Also, its funny that the author of the article claims that Haiti wasnt recognized as a country due to them being non-white or because the US was afraid that blacks in America would try to take over as well. Sorry bud, its because they slaughtered pretty much every white person they came across during their revolution. Its the same reason we didnt recognize ISIS.

too be fair, billions in aid were raised after the earthquake, then fractions of that money actually made it down there. then corruption set it and it never went where it needed to go.

For those who think wealth disparity is bad here, some estimates show that up to 99% of all wealth and 60% of all earnings in Haiti are held by 6 families. Not surprisingly, they all have ties to the government.
