All this debate whether GOL will or won't be a good AD got me to thinking - have we ever had a D-I AD who was worth a damn:
Gene McDowell - saved the program financially, but allowed all sports but FB languish. Other than the annual Gatecrashers event, no real fundraising (he did get Wayne Densch on board). Facilities suffered.
Steve Sloan - got us some good away FB games, but no fundraising at all. All other sports stagnated.
Steve Orsini - moved the program into the 20th century, but damn near bankrupted it.
Keith Tribble
Todd Stansbury - stabilized the program in the Tribble aftermath, but little else.
I guess the point is, GOL can't be worse than we've already endured.
