Villanova is as good as advertised with a shot at repeating. They pass around until they work someone open, everyone can handle the ball, shoot, and guard. Extremely disciplined and athletic.
Our players showed they belonged on the same floor with them.
Sadly, Tank didn't bring his game tonite and Dawkins finally replaced him with Mumin.
B.J. outrageously good. Just wish he knew how to pass to anyone, especially to Tacko.
'Nova swarmed Tacko all game, but he still got his share of points and rebounds.
Mumin sank a 3. Laing made a fabulous entry bounce pass to Tacko for a dunk.
'Nova had its group of traveling fans there. All the top teams do. Someday, UCF?
Matt made two great driving layups in the second half that I hadn't seen him do before.
Tacko made a B.J. 3-pt miss into a jam all in one fluid motion!
Tacko also had a great block near the end that drew crowd reaction and their coach's protests.
UCF came back to tie at 12 all and B.J. made 6 straight pts. along with our 3 stop to tie it at 18 all.
After getting down by 20 pts, Dawkins went to the inbound press the rest of the way to cut it to 10.
Tacko 10-11 for 20 pts., 13 rebounds, only 2 turnovers, only that one block (Nova: pull up jumpers)
Matt 17, BJ 13, Banyard and Mumin 3-pointer each. Banyard kept off boards due to their quickness.
Decent steals (for us) 4 and assists 14. Just 13 turnovers after 5 early. But outrebounded 31-36.
Extremely nice defensive effort that frustrated them a times while we kept our poise.
