Why not move GOL over to Defensive Coordinator? We don't need Chuck Breshnahan. That way GOL isn't in charge of recruiting 17-18 year olds and we can have a younger guy who will relate to recruits. Also, O'Leary has always been a solid defensive coach. It's a win-win.. GOL doesn't have to give up the game he loves and we can hire an energetic up-and-coming coach who can breathe new life into this program. We'll have a mix of both..energy/enthusiasm mixed with discipline/attention to detail.

Obviously it's easier said than done given GOL's pride/ego.. but it's better then having to step down/get fired fresh off an 0-12 season.

We need a clean slate, a complete start over.

I disagree. We need to change some things...but not everything. Although O'Leary isn't a great players coach or recruiter..his strengths are his attention to detail, discipline, and making sure our players do well in class. Those things are important for a program to be successful on and off the field. We can use a guy like him. Move him over to D-coordinator (if he refuses then yeah he has to go) and let the new head coach handle all the areas O'Leary is weak at.

You're wasting your time. Some people here will not accept any GoL participation, period. Some have never wanted him, and his defense-oriented system. Others have just wanted him gone after 2004, 2006, 2008 or maybe 2011.

And there there are other who will "bite their tongue," while wanting to say, "I could care less about discipline and top grades, I'll take some slip there to get more P5 wins, as long as we're not flirting with NCAA academic issues." Although some of them are shared with those that expect a no-huddle, offense-first system.

To them, a GoL pro-like defense -- with 0 involvement with the offense -- is always going to be incompatible.

Will GOL agree to take the role for $300,000 that UCF pays for that job?
