Are you thinking baseball needs to revise the way teams are seeded in the Playoffs right about now?

While I think Chicago is for losers and degenerates, I do agree that it royally sucks that both the Pirates and Cubs will have to play a 1-game "playoff" despite having better records than both the Dodgers and Mets. The NL Central was amazing this year.

I'm hoping STL can win tonight, clinch the division, and get guys healthy for the playoffs.

The entire division lineup and seeding and even playoff appearances is bullshit. Just let the best records get in and be done with it.

I'm fine with division champs getting in. They should.

But they should be re-seeded once in based upon record. Meaning a division winner could still be required to play in the 1-game "play in" if a Wild Card team has a better record.

In this scenario, the Dodgers and Mets would be in the play-in game.

I think it royally sucks especially since the Cubs, in third place in the central, would be in first place in every other damn division in baseball.

The only thing one can say about the play-in game is that the winner has a great shot of going to the WS. It seems every year that that happens.

St. Louis just lost Martinez for the season, 85. I think that could be huge.

I don't know how in the hell the Cardinals managed to win as much as they did this year with all of their injuries. This one could hurt though especially since Wacha has had his brains beaten in the last month. The Cubs has beat his ass badly twice in that span.

STL has the best franchise in the MLB, that's how.

Imagine what their record would have been if Wainwright wasn't injured early? That's easily a 15 game winner that was taken out of the rotation.

Well, San Fran says hello (this year, not withstanding).

Enjoy it while you can. Cubs are extremely young and are going to be around for a while.

They should make the play-in a 3 game series.

Actually, they should make an 8 team playoff and make the first round be a 3 game series.

Cubs now have 93 wins...and still are in third place.

Unbelievable.

And now have to play a 1 game Do or Die! I love it.

I'm actually pulling for the Cubs since I think the Pirates are a better team across the board.

I dunno. Head-to-head, the Cubs have played the Pirates pretty well this year (they are 11-8 vs. them). Starting pitching-wise, they are fairly even, but the Pirates have the stronger bullpen. Hitting-wise, I agree. The Cubs basically have 5 rookies in the lineup and you just don't know how they will respond with a loaded pistol to their heads.

I like the Cubs' chances if Arrieta pitches. He has had a sensational season.

You know, for somebody as dumb as you, this makes too much sense.

The Pirates have a losing record vs the NL Central & have done well everywhere else. Doesn't bode well for them.

I've been meaning to ask you: who do you think wins the NL Cy Young? I have a bias for Arrieta but Zach Greinke has been pretty outstanding all season. Both, however, have ERAs (and especially ERAs since the All-Star break) that are at historically-low levels.

Arrieta is going to get it because recency bias and narratives play heavy with voters. Greinke was awesome early, but Arrieta has been shoving it since early June and keeps getting better. Plus, Kershaw is going to steal votes away from Greinke as well.
