There's a new whiskey/cocktail/craft beer bar opening in St Pete today called the Blue Goose. You seen this?

Looks pretty badass inside; it's an industrial look with couches, pool tables, and an extra long old school bar.

It's next to Engine No 9 Burger Bar.

Don't hate cuz you're in the SH
I haven't lived in SH for 12 years.

*edit math. Also, it really hurts to realize this.

Thanks for posting - I hadn't heard about it, but I guaran-damn-tee you that I'll be trying it out.

Pffft St Pete has nothing on the Spring Hill bar scene. It's an all you can eat buffet of cheap booze, cigarettes, pills and 18 year old single moms with five kids sitting out in the car.

Have you been to The Avenue down by the WOB in downtown? That's an awesome burger joint too.

St PEte has really exploded with awesome places to eat and drink. It's good to see the Edge district being built up too in addition to what's going on in the central downtown area.

I went to 3 Daughters this past weekend and it was a lot of fun.

Damn, we just walked past that place a couple of weekends ago on our way to Red Mesa. It was packed and I really thought about trying it out, but an overpriced/undersized margarita was consuming my thoughts. I'll have to give it a shot.

Try it, it's worth it. The burgers are huge and the sweet potato fries are awesome. Good drink specials too.

I also recently went to Annata Wine on Beach Drive, it's the wine/tapas place that Mazzaro's opened. It was awesome. We shared a huge meat and cheese board for just $15.

I'll have to check that out. We went to Locale a month or so ago and I was unimpressed. I have also been wanting to try out Il Ritorno. My wife group up in the same neighborhood in Seminole with the Owner/Exec. Chef and the place has gotten phenomenal reviews.

I ordered from The Avenue on 727foodnow once, but haven't actually been. Haven't been to 3 daughters either but I like some their beer. That place is almost in the hood, I was surprised they chose that location.

Il Ritorno is awesome. I had the pan seared chicken and it was literally the best chicken dish I've ever had. My fiancé got the short rib pasta and it was f*king awesome. But make reservations because otherwise you're screwed.

I agree about Locale to an extent but it's still a good addition to downtown. We got some steaks and hand made sausage there recently and it was awesome. Cheese selections are good too. Otherwise it's basically a Whole Foods with a less impressive pre-made selection.

That's great to hear about Il Ritorno. Trust me, anymore I don't think we go anywhere where we can't make reservations. After having kids, the days of waiting in line with a buzzer are long behind us. Especially on date nights when the clock is ticking with a babysitter.

I should've qualified my comment on Locale to say that as a sit-down spot it was unimpressive. We split a charcuterie and cheese board and it was 'meh'. They were out of two different wines on their list (the first was available by bottle only, then we switched to a by-the-glass and they were out of both), so we ended up picking something up from there retail and they still charged us a corkage fee. I bitched, but to no avail. I would definitely consider picking up some steaks, fish, etc. from there if we happen to be down that way because everything looked good there. That said, I have a butcher shop a mile from my house so it's hard to justify a special trip down to St. Pete just to pick up meat.

You ordered chicken while she orders short ribs.

Grow some balls, man. No self-respecting man should ever order chicken out at a restaurant, unless you're out for wings.

These rules you have for eating are truly ridiculous. This isn't Applebees- it's the best chicken dish in the area.

Plus she is tiny and eats 35% of her dish anyways, leaving plenty for me to "try".

Il Ritorno is on my list. I went to Sea Salt two weeks ago for my birthday and I thought it was really good. It's seafood but they focus on fish and oysters both of which my wife hates.

My wife and I walked into Sea Salt after having wine and the charcuterie at Locale. The Sea Salt menu looked good, but I could hardly hear myself think as we did a lap around the bar. I get the reason why restaurants these days want to keep the noise level a little higher than they used to, but sometimes it's just ridiculous. All that said, my wife and I are mid-30's, so it's not like we're "back in my day" old codgers - we just like to be able to have a conversation when we're at dinner. Maybe we'll give it a shot when it's a little earlier in the evening.

Sea Salt looks ridiculously expensive. $38 for salmon? Really?

There are a lot of places in the area where you can get wild caught fish for way, way less.

Red Mesa on 4th uses wild caught filets and their salmon dishes are like $18-20 max.

I bet you chodes enjoy all that expensive food with a side of whale semen encrusted brioche.

(Amazing how this place has, once again, come around to Chemmie's way of thinking)

No, we drive 10 minutes to eat. You fly to Europe to eat.

Other than 85's comment about the high price of salmon at one particular restaurant, who said anything about how much we pay for food? Speaking of how much is paid for food, didn't you recently chime in that you buy your meat from Whole Foods? It doesn't get much more expensive than that for meat from a grocer.

Yes, but Red Mesa doesn't give you cotton candy at the end of your meal.*

Now you've got me wanting an enchilada trio.
