Qatar 2022 is announced to be played between Early November to December 18.

Isn’t this directly in the middle of league seasons? They’re going to stop all of these leagues for over a month?

Wouldn’t it be better to just pull the WC out of Qatar? Like is like saying the NFL has to start in July and end by October.

yea its going to piss alot of the big leagues off. this is not cool. i hate fifa. they should pull out of qatar and announce a country that can legit hold the tournament in 4 years without having to build a damn thing.

and this is the bid the U.S. originally lost before winning 2026 with Canada & Mexico, what a joke.

Europe could host it without spending an extra cent. And it'd be during SUmmer.

This was "confirmed" years ago and then randomly reconfirmed this past weekend.

It blows my mind. It literally effects every major league, including MLS. That's when playoffs are for the USA.

going head to head with NFL & College Football, the games will be on Fox Business Network

Qatar is 8 hours ahead so the weekday games won't necessarily be a problem but the weekends will be a huge problem. They'll have to contend with both CFB and NFL kicking off at 12 or 1 pm.

Fox must be pissed. They spent all that money for the TV rights, and the US doesn't make this WC and the next one is going to be impeded by football.

.

Yeah, FIFA decided to move the dates over 3 years ago to get away from the desert heat.

Sucks for top euro leagues...but really sucks that the "dead of summer" American (or anywhere) viewers, when many people are on vacation and or have easy flexible schedules, won't be able to watch daytime Works Cup Games as easily come Nov/Dec 2022.

Only the late games of the day in 2022 WC will go up against Noon/1 pm College and NFL games.

Yea- the Primetime games. The games that Fox is counting on to boost ratings the most to justify that up front expense they paid.

On the flipside, maybe it'll boost the Fox Sports network enough that they actually start looking to compete with ESPN and get into a bidding war for other properties, like AAC Football. /DreamSequence
