Hoping Milton. Verduzco has likened him to Johnny Football. In the field of course. We'll be the last to know, I suspect. The big question is which of the other 4 QB's would get moved up to backup (or starter). Note that isn't necessarily the person brought in if we'd need someone else to go in today.
any update on Holman's leg ?
I think just about everyone is on the 'Holman just doesn't have it' group but I don't want him forced to the bench by injury.I'm glad Holman is healthy... that he's starting again... meh.

I've got to say, I'm kind of surprised that Tyler Harris didn't even dress for UM. Of the QBs from last year, he seemed to have the quickest release with the best short range accuracy. Maybe he's lagging picking up the offense.

I want them to roll the dice with the Hawaiian when Conference play gets here, even with the oline still being a weakness this offense can be good with all the weapons with just average QB play
He's not fast enough to tear off a long run for a TD, but he's fast enough to pick up 5 yards if the D isn't honest. I'd rather trade Holman and Patti's speed for someone who can make quick accurate throws. Maybe the answer is just milton. He's too slow.
Like with Michigan, it may be better to use senior leadership to avoid turnovers, throw it away, and direct young offense.I think just about everyone is on the 'Holman just doesn't have it' group but I don't want him forced to the bench by injury. Yes, we need someone who can run AND pass. Holman, Patti, and Harris don't fit these requirementsHe's not fast enough to tear off a long run for a TD, but he's fast enough to pick up 5 yards if the D isn't honest. Right now Holman is our best bet. Patti is just too small. His problem is that when the pock collapses he cannot see past the linemen. You could see that against Michigan. He is quicker and and smoother, but unless he has a good pocket or is moved outside the pocket he is limited. This year is a throw away. I would not bring Milton in unless absolutely necessary.
The only thing you learn from her articles, is which players she has a personal bond with.any spies at practice know how Milton's been looking?
I understand if they stick w Holman but watching him sometimes I think he just brings a bad energy to the roster. Great student/person but he gets his head down with frustration quick in games & that can effect an entire teams's energy/confidence.
Our Orlando Sentinel beat writer loves to make excuses for him but the fact is that he's played 3 halves and was really bad in 2 of them, 1 being against IAA SC State.
I could tell last season that she has one with Holman. The only thing you learn from her articles, is which players she has a personal bond with.
She may be a Holman fan but she doesn't really come down extremely hard anyone that I've seen. The frustrating thing about Holman is he helped us win a conference 'ship and hasn't shown improvement from that season. He has the physical tools.. I guess its just mental. (I do think he's fast enough to run the offense). That was a great run that he unfortunately got hurt on..
I agree SUB. Harris has been around a while now.I'm glad Holman is healthy... that he's starting again... meh.

I also agree here. Holman does seem to regress each year.I remember during the 2013 season, when he came in a couple times, thinking he had a better arm and was faster than Bortles. He was also going to have 3 years as the likely starter. He actually seems to regress a little every year. Or maybe that's just relative perspective. Maybe it's that he's not progressing at the rate you'd expect.
What are you worried about? Losing some potential phenomenal year in 2020? The odds are much higher that he'll need a medical redshirt year than we're competing for a playoff spot in 2020.

Also, I recall that Jeff Godfrey arrive early enough to go through spring practice. And the offense wasn't learning a different system with new starters on the line.[
Nothing to do with 2020. He is inexperienced so injuries, confidence, confidence of the rest of the team. Bring him along slowly and let him grow into his frame a little. Let him get stronger and learn leadership. Let him earn the respect of his fellow players. Trust the coaches to know if he is ready to take the helm.
I hope Coach Verdu is a miracle worker and something clicks with Holman but I just don't see it which is a shame bc he has the arm talent to be a good QB
