Early last month I was tipped off about a 6-foot-10 post player at Sagemont down in Weston named Nikola “Nik” Popovic.
In his six weeks in the U.S., the class of 2016 big man has picked up offers from Boston College, Georgia, Providence, Rice, Richmond, Valparaiso and UCF.
Popovic is from Bosnia but played on the Serbian U18 National Team. I haven't seen him yet, but someone I trust told me that he is a very skilled post player that moves well, is very good with his back to the basket, has a high basketball IQ, European skills (naturally) and can step out and shoot three-pointers at a good clip. Although Popovic is 6-foot-10, I’m told that he is not a shot blocker.
Consider him a "sleeper" in the 2016 class.
