Sanford (Fla.) Seminole has enjoyed a wave of success the last couple years. Last year's team seemed destined for a spot in the Class 8A Championship Game, carrying an undefeated record into the semifinal game before being upset by Dr. Phillips in overtime.
UCF has signed a couple players from the school in the past two recruiting classes: Cornerback Brandon Moore (2016) and wide receiver Gabe Davis (2017).
The Knights are among several schools keeping an eye on Class of 2018 offensive lineman Kenneth Horsey.
"It's been a blessing," Horsey said of his recruitment. "I've been talking to a lot of schools, getting to know a lot of coaches. I know a lot of schools will be coming out to watch me this spring."
Horsey has five offers so far from UTSA, Missouri, McNeese State, Buffalo and USF.
UCF, North Carolina, NC State and FAU are among the others keeping in touch. He plans to attend UCF's Junior Day on Saturday.
"I've been hearing from UCF off and on, the last time was about the Junior Day. I've been to UCF a few times."
His most recent offer came from USF, where he plans to visit for their spring game on April 15.
"Coach (Matt) Mattox followed me on Twitter and one day he hit me up after I was done working out," Horsey said. "He said that he just showed the staff my film and they were calling me 'Big Bully' for the way I treated d-linemen. I like the attitude over there. I can tell there's a passion there."
Seminole has some big shoes to fill on offense with the departures of Gabe Davis, quarterback Kaylan Wiggins and running back D.J. Hampton, but Horsey says don't count them out to make a run in 2017.
"People are going to be sleeping on us because we had some seniors leave, but we've got a lot of young talent that's ready to show themselves this year," Horsey said.
