Houston finishes #8 in final AP poll

Also I don't knock Blake or Storm for leaving after the fiesta bowl, especially in Blakes case, but I always wondered where we would have been ranked pre-season had they stayed.

Happy to see that also saw this way to early top25 on ESPN. Has them in top 10 to start season. If they beat Oklahoma and run table could they be the first group of 5 team in playoff?

No. A major league baseball team is more likely than a G5 school. They won't have the strength of schedule(or their AD on the voting committee). There will be an excuse if that happens. They'll be ranked 5th.

Look at how disrespected Houston was in the polling going into bowl season. A 1 loss conference champion of the top G5 conference and they weren't even sniffing the top 10 sitting at #18.

They don't have to be top 10....just ranked under 20 to start the season and if they run the table they could have shot. I hope it works out for them. They have an opportunity we lost in 2014 when our QB, RB, and a CB left early. We went 9-4 without them and realistically we would have won 3 of our 4 losses if those guys stayed. The Mizzou game would still be iffy but I think it was a 7 point game or so with 5 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, then we made some mistakes and let the game get away from us. It's a shame they lost Ward forvthat one game because they probably would have won it.
