Houston hires Lane Kiffin

Darn, I was hoping USF would hire him so I could hate them even more!

Interesting. Good for houston I guess. High profile coach for sure. H-Town take over will continue. Hopefully they keep beating Big12 pukes.

Agreed. The AAC needs to stabilize the corp of folks who are the face of the conference. By hiring big name coaches who've had there ups and down in P-5 programs may be a better strategy that always bringing in transient and risky offensive coordinators from top schools.

The guy is slimy... He can recruit but talk about lack of integrity..

Houston grabbed a big time offensive coordinator and twice OK P5 coach. That says a lot for Houston, their salaries offered and the AAC

Look at Houston's track record the last decade plus and their success across multiple Coaches.

I'm not questioning their judgement, that's a well run Football Program. Kiffin can coach, what he did with Coker last year was amazing.

He also inherits 5 star QB Kyle Allen who will now be eligible to play after sitting out a year after transferring out of Texas A&M

I'm kinda glad to see a coach like that come to our conference, at least from the publicity side of things. The more attention we get as a conference, the better at this point.

Great hire....not. Guys track record as a head coach is mediocre at best, and he was at USC and only had one good season in 3 seasons. he bailed on Tennessee. He was a total flop with the Raiders.

He's still really young. He made the jump too quick when USC was on Probation

Sounds like it should be a fun ride. The AAC may have lost some top coaching talent, but controversy gets more eyes watching the tube.

Strong to USF and Kiffin to Houston... and Cincy w/o a coach right? Couple years ago they were the best job in the conference...

Houston's selection of coaches is hit or miss. Although a success at Baylor afterwards, Houston fans from what I read thought the program was steeped in cronyism and he personified that. Maybe the last of them. Cant ignore them striking gold with Sumlin and Herman though.

Houston was essentially an 8-5 team under Sumlin.

Kiffin is good offensive coordinator. Head Coach? He couldn't win with decided talent advantages. Now he's got to be a HC of G5 team in Texas, where the old Houston coach is now the Head Coach at the biggest program in the state.

You beat me to this hot take #hottakeinception
He was more desperate, I guess. But long, long before twitter, city papers and national media sacrificed accuracy for "scooping" their rivals! And long before "fake news" became a scandal, American journalists helped start wars (Hearst took America into the Spanish American War and the NYTimes gave neocons the credibility to start the Iraq War, both over provably false stories. The sports press, ironically, tends to be more accurate than the financial and "real" news.
