Don't get me wrong...I'm thrilled we're going bowling, but let's be honest...a win vs a crappy SEC team >>>>>>> a win vs a good Sun Belt team.

How is the MAC able to get a tie-in vs SEC, yet all the AAC matchups (except for USF and Temple) are against G5 schools? Is the AAC commissioner that inept at negotiating?

When UCF was in the MAC, I think they only had one bowl. One year we were second and on the outside looking in.

One of these bowls with AAC ties in an actual football stadium needs to pull the P5 connection away from the St. Pete Bowl. Cure, Boca, Miami. All of those are better venues for football and I'm sure the P5 conferences would agree.

Here's what happened. All the bowls were seeded with 6 win (with only 1 FCS win counting) or better teams based on contracts.

Then based on APR Army (6-5 with 2 FCS wins), Texas State (5-7), Southern Alabama (6-6 with 2 FCS wins), and Mississippi State (5-7) chose their destinations in that order. So Miami (OH) doesn't have an SEC tie in, they were just the least desireable opponent in an open bowl and the lowest eligible team based on APR happened to be an SEC team.

Thanks, this makes sense. I would still rather play a 5-7 SEC team though :-/

This kind of sentiment is exactly why the AAC is locked out of all the good bowls. We're playing the champion of an FBS conference, in our home town, in a great time & date, in a real football stadium. If you weren't told the name of the other team that would sound great! But people are wishing we could be playing a bad SEC team in a baseball stadium because we've bought into the same P5 bias that we hate so much when it's held against UCF.

I'm not feeling to sadly about not playing a 5-7 SEC team in the worst venue in the country. Mississippi st. Is in the SEC, but they are not good.

Because I personally think that 5-7 SEC team would beat the SunBelt co-champ 10/10 times. Not P-5 bias, just reality.

P5 bias has you brainwashed man. Miss St let U-mass (a 2-10 team) and Samford (fcs) put up 35 and 41 points respectively. If you are a conference champion you are a good team and can compete with anyone. Miss st would not beat Arkansas state 10/10. No way.

Based on what evidence? Oh, yeah, they lost to the 11th best FCS team as well as their other 3 OOC games.
If we don't win convincingly (or heaven forbid, lose), it's a big setback that could hurt recruiting and season ticket sales.
No pressure.
