How is this a story?

Why does having it be a gay bar make it news-worthy?
Holy Homophobia, Batman! Crazy created a new thread...over this??!?!

If Crazyhole had taken the time to actually READ the Yahoo article he linked written by an Oberlin College Sociology Professor about his own research study, he might have figured out it was more than just 'another corona virus' shutdown story.

Headline: "shuttered by coronavirus"........

Tell me how this is worthy of a headline when 10s of thousands of bars that don't cater specifically to the gay community are going through the same thing. Why not write this article and cite the problems that a bar in Worms Nebraska is having due to coronavirus?

Yep, just as I suspected. You read the headline and posted this thread without having a clue what the story was really about.

No, I read the article. If they wanted to say that gay bars are struggling and have been for the last decade thats totally cool. Whats the point of bringing coronavirus into the headline? Gay bars aren't hurting any more than others due to coronavirus, so why tie the two together?

It was used as a real-time segue to the heart of his author's research.

But you know what? I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that the author of the article didn't write the headline.

I'm sure this is the only time in the history of journalism that an editor sensationalized the headline for an article. And it certainly worked in your case--we got this discussion thread out of it. :)

Fair enough

All business that have been shut down are struggling, and many won't reopen because the owners have been ruined. I don't care if the owner is straight, gay, curved, green, yellow, brown, black, or white.
