How would you have replied if, 2 weeks before the season started, someone would have predicted on this message board, that.................
.....We would lose, at home, to a lower division Conference USA team and a lower level FCS team,
after leading both at halftime.
.....Our best tailback would be kicked off the team and our senior center would be done after a couple of
games.
.....We would begin to lose games in an unbelievable manner.
.....We lose a home game to a conference doormat and watch them dance a made up trophy around our field
.....Our head coach would "retire" in the middle of the season
.....We would continue to lose and watch our offense and defense be ranked at or near the bottom of all
College football.
.....We would witness the rise of our rival, USF, to conference champ contenders
.....We would lose to USF by a lot (likely), at home, and put them in position to Play for the AAC
championship
.....We would see 4 other teams (Memphis?) in the AAC spend time in the top 20 during the year.
.....We end the year with 2 Thursday night national TV games that are so bad that the announcers
Have to struggle to pay attention and find things to talk about in the 2nd half.
.....The OC of the worst offense in the country gets a $700 thousand bonus.........to leave!
You quite simply could not have made this stuff up. I'm sure there are other fun facts I've forgotten. Hard to believe that it was less that 2 years ago that I sat in Glendale on that wonderful night that now seems like an eternity ago.
