Approx .500 coach overall, .500 conference record, and 2-4 against P5 (with one of those being Kansas this year....which is like saying you beat UCF :)). He will probably lose every conference game that mattered, and all this with the potential #1 NFL draft pick. He's a good coach but if I'm a P5 school I'd have concerns about investing my program in him the next 4-5 years. His teams just don't look like they will beat you up. Personally I think Matt Rhule looks like a much better option and his team looks like they enjoy punching you in the face.

Matty they are the defending conference champion. You know that right?

Look Fuentes still has two chances for back to back 10 win seasons. They should win at least 9. Last year that was good enough to be champs. This year that's 4th place maybe 5th. We have to be pleased with our conference affiliation. I can't wait for us to be this good in two years hopefully.

:-O you

Of course i know that. Just saying if you would hire him at UCF because they shared a conference title with two other schools (in which none of the "champs" played each other) when there was no title game, and then lost all three games that mattered this season? I wouldn't. He's had opportunity but hasn't really done anything with it. I didn't say he sucked. I'd have some serious doubt tieing up big money in a coach that hasn't really proved himself on the field in big games. It doesn't do any good to beat Ole Miss and then lose three conference games...very similar to that one year USF had many years ago.

The same could be said for GOL...then Hitt signed him to a 10 year contract with a buyout we couldn't afford.

Memphis would have been American champs last year if it wasn't for UCFs 51 yard TD pass in the last second win over ECU. The reason why is because of their tiebreaker win against Cincinnati. So much for his inability to win the big games.

When he beat Cincy at the beginning of the year, it was seen as a potential American conference championship game with a likely rematch at the end of the season. I know the last few weeks his team has gotten the short end of the stick, but consider where they were when he was hired. The thought that 3 seasons later he couldn't win the big games is the bad rap on him would have to be seen as quite a success story. If I am not mistaken, this is his first shot at HC. Sometimes it takes a while for a coach to start winning the big games. Coach K at Duke started off pretty rough, but after a couple of seasons he started to do better. I'm not sure USC or Miami are his landing spots, but I think there will be plenty of offers for his services. If he waits till next year and is able to win some big games, then there will be more high profile jobs asking for his services. 7-29 the three years before him. 21-15 the last 3 seasons with him including a 3-9 first season (3 defeats by a touchdown or less- UCF and Louisville by a TD each). Dude can coach.

He's built a good team out of a decade or more crap pile, at a school that didn't put much behind the football team (or so I've heard). So, he's a proven recruiter and can call a winning game, which can't be said for a certain other prospect that others on here are sucking on, hoping that he maybe learned something in his years of working under Saban. At least Memphis has won in a better conference and more consistently than FIU.

Looking back at UCF seasons where the Knights either played for or won conf championships, UCF has done it with multiple QB's:

2005: Moffett
2007: Israel
2010: Godfrey
2012: Bortles
2013: Bortles
2014: Holman

Fuentes has obviously only won with 1 QB, who is bolting for the NFL as soon as the season is over.

Memphis needed a last second FG to beat Temple last season (game was going into OT with miss), as many "championship" teams need to win games on last play of the game to win titles.

UCF had 2 of those type games last year when Brandon Alexander knocked the ball out of UH QB Greg Ward's hands as he was diving into the end zone for what would have been a winning TD play.
