Would still be the head coach at the University of Nebraska if he had McKenzie Milton as his QB1. That dude was just special.

He'd be in his 8th season next year. He would have been done after 2019. If he didn't get injured he would have finished his career at UCF (probably with 37-38 wins in a row (he missed the ECU game in 2018 as part of our 25 game win streak and I doubt we lose the three games we lost in 2019 with DG at the helm), assuming they would have beat LSU if he was playing and I may be crazy but I think he would have had a little better performance than Mack's 11/30 97 yard performance). BTW, Mack did great to come in and lead us to a conference title. Not ragging on him. The LSU game was only his 3rd start and his 2nd start was a conference championship game. His 3rd a NY6 Bowl. He was playing against very good teams.

KZ was special and a complete 100% legend (he should have a statue not Oleary) but idk if he would have had the same results. It was the perfect mix of stud WR's in Gabe and Tre'quan Smith with the speed and big play ability of Otis and Killins...it was the complete package that Nebraska didn't come close to having. It was a special group.

Random thought. Being a Steelers fan our OC is terrible and will get canned soon (hopefully). Being that Frost and Tomlin are good friends I would if he gives him a shot at OC or even just a QB coach roll if he goes the NFL route.

No O'leary, No KZ... Any lasting structure requires solid foundation.

Don't forget Akins, who is still playing for Houston. He was their leading receiver last week. Team was stacked.

Not sure why he didn’t bring Leftwich in.

Just saying if he had Milton at any point of his Nebraska coaching stint. Not only was he a stud, but he would help bring in better recruits. Bet Frost plays the "what if" question with this often.

Pretty sure if Milton would of won the Fiesta Bowl against LSU he would be done after completing his junior year (2018 season) and off the NFL. There just would been too many scouts to friends and family members saying don't risk it (injury to lack of stellar performance) and return for a senior year take all those accomplishments with for an early NFL draft

No doubt. We were up 14-7 after bam’s pick six and then offense pretty much stalled rest of game. Milton would have sustained drives longer and at least gotten us into fg range a few times. Id say we probably win that game 38-28 with milton

We’ll never know. I think he would have stayed. Totally my opinion. He didn’t have much draft clout, much like the greatest college QB I’ve ever seen play, Kellen Moore (who went 50-3 as a starter). Similar size. Played similarly. Very cerebral QBs and made everybody around him better. Moore went undrafted. Held a clipboard for a bunch of years while earning millions and has now worked his way up to the Dallas Cowboys OC.

Clipboard holding in the NFL is good work if you can get it.
Blaine Gabbert is a great example. He is known as NFL's franchise third string qb with multiple years in the league and with multiple teams . Apparently he is his own agent and typically does league minimum for qb with × number years in NFL. Pretty sure that why he stayed active as NFL player for years is doesn't have an obnoxious agent saying "my guy should get this, my guy needs that guaranteed"

This was from Oct 2018 (before Milton got hurt). It listed the top 10 prospects for the 2019 NFL Draft. Not listed. Hard to find articles about this, at this point but...

Another article from before the 2018 season even begins. Dilfer has a lot of good things to say but you can see he's probably thinking, "NFL people are going to think he's too small (even though a guy like Drew Brees was very successful)". I think he could have been a late 2019 pick but you throw in another undefeated or nearly undefeated 2019 season and I think that would have helped his draft status. Plus, he wasn't just doing well at UCF. He was leading the team to legendary status if he would have played in 2019, which I think the only game we would have lost that year potentially was the NY6 bowl, if he was playing. If he stayed for 2019 our program would have won so many games in a row it would have put us in some pretty rare air (Top 5 all-time and #1 in the modern football era ahead of Miami...I count the modern college football era as starting in 1991 when a ton of conference consolidation/additions occurred...e.g. FSU to the ACC).

Like most of you, I love Milton. When he returned from the injury, he wasn't the same. I went to the Hula Bowl and saw firsthand that he had regressed. I hate Jaba for having Milton in that garbage USF game, running.

Still think NFL are size queens. Milton would never have been drafted, but probably/maybe would have been in someone's camp. Just look at the NFL career of his mirror/equal on defense- Griffin. (I still wish both were playing somewhere-- CFL, XFL, USFL, whateverFL, would love to watch them again.)
