One report notes that Bannon turned in his resignation almost 2 weeks ago and not sure the reason for the delay for this announcement.

Trump is in a rough spot. Bannon and his ideals appeal to Trump's hardcore unwavering base. They aren't going to like this. But if Trump kept him and keeps appealing more to the kkk groups etc. moderates and independents who voted for him because he was different and not Hillary Clinton in all likelihood won't vote for him again and I don't think he can win an election with his base alone.
The Republican primaries will be interesting. Especially because the Dems are lost right now.
Smart move by Trump, Bannon had zero qualifications and absolutely no reason to be anywhere near classified security meetings.

You're right, Georgetown MA, Harvard MBA, Naval Officer, Pentaegon Officer, M&A with Goldman Sacks, executive at Breitbart and much more. Considering the idiots in the Obama administration that has security clearance, Bannon was incredibly qualified.
If it really came down to Bannon vs McMaster/Kelly, this was an absolute no brainer decision. He's a moron for lining himself against them.

I had no problem with Bannon being there if Trump and Kelly wanted him there though. He's not a racist white supremacist. Every conservative wears a white hood on the weekends according to the MSLM and anti-Trumpers.
Bannon is not remotely a white nationalist, just a nationalist with anti-immigration or some questionable civics on legal residents. In fact, he considers white nationalists to be fools and idiots, and has repeatedly warned everyone from Evangelicals to Wall Street over the years.
Don't confuse anti-immigration for anti-African American. I've had to repeatedly explain this to both sides.
I know most people really don't care about such detail, but understand where Bannon's issues have been.
E.g., Trump's first Executive Order on immigration was due to Bannon poorly crafting the Order in a way that didn't respect legal residents and visitors, which is why it would be quickly ruled Unconstitutional almost universally. Heck, even both DHS and its CBP had to come out and add that clarification, especially as judges and lawyers weighed in, as the President's Order did not.
