I think Jawon Hamilton is going to be GREAT at UCF.....

He's not a Kevin type back or in a GOL type offense, so he certainly won't lead the nation in carries. Much hard to predict a RB success than a QB's. He's yet to have a big run or show off his talents, but I hope you're right. A lot depends on the developing OLine that's playing more like a unit now. Tomorrow, I expect Hamilton to have made the adjustment to Milton's handoffs and quicker pace, which could get him through the line quick and exhaust defenses.

During Fall Fan Fest I had a chance to talk to Kevin Smith. He commented on the number of the jersey I was wearing, #1, and said "See that #1 sitting over there? (pointing to a RB signing autographs) That guy will make everyone forget my name with what he is going to do at this school!"

That #1 was Jawon Hamilton.

Can't wait to see if that declaration holds true!

Hamilton and Killins might have a bit more quickness and speed than 24k but Kevin probably read holes, anticipated openings better than any UCF RB ever did. (He also had veteran OL/TE that had over 140 combined starts). Plus , hopefully for both and any new RB for next year, all take I the same off season work ethic that 24k did especially prior to 2007 season, ad his "go hard or go home" attitude turned his thighs into tree logs where it was a lost impossible to arm tackle him.

24K had that rare ability where the harder you pounded on him and the harder he drove himself the better he got.

I always referred to him as a bent piece of metal that only got stronger the more it was forged....

I don't see him doing better than Kevin. Mostly because we have 2 good RBs that will share PT and our QB is better than what Kevin had. Not saying he won't be a better NFL back, but won't be close to Sanders or Kevins single season yards.

24k averaged:

True Freshmen:4.8 yds per carry
Soph: 4.5 yds per carry
Junior: 5.7 yds per carry

Right now Hamilton is averaging 4.1 yds per carry while Killins is averaging 15.5 yds per carry (10 total carries...obviously had the 87 yarder...but still averaging high on his other 9 carries).

Between all the RB's, QB runs and WR sweeps...UCF is averaging 4.3 yds per carry this year (a very good start).

For 24K to say that, it's special. He was a machine.

I don't think 24K was referring to his school record of yards per season. It sounded more along the lines of Hamiltin would be a more dynamic and exciting RB than he was. More Yards Per Carry would yield that kind of effect. I doubt Hamilton would equal the number of carries or total yards 24K had.

Taye was leading the nation averaging 7.5 per carry during his great, injury-free final season. Also he was UCF greatest TD machine. Later in the season, defenses started keying only on him, and his average fell off. Plus he was a sure-handed receiver, outrageously good kickoff returner, and worked hard to become an excellent pass blocker on bigger DEs.

Geez, 15.5 yards a carry. Give that man the damn ball!

I don't think we have yet seen anything Hamilton has to offer. The best is yet to come. Very soon. Stay tuned
