I'd have to say our pitching had a major failure against FAU, L, 3-13

I didn't make it to the game and espn+ didn't have it.

We play the school of the blind, blow them out, then play a good team (FAU).

Anyone have any recap on this blow-out?

The Knights fell for the first time this season in an 13-3 loss to Florida Atlantic on Tuesday night at John Euliano Park.

The Owls hit a leadoff home run and then tacked on three more runs over the first three innings to take a 4-0 lead.

UCF responded with an Andrew Brait RBI single that scored Corey Robinson making it 4-1.

Both offenses would be held scoreless until the sixth inning when FAU hit a two-run home run to left center field.

Ben McCabe followed that up with a moonshot to left, his fourth of the year and 34th of his career moving him one shy of tying Matt Bowser for sixth most in program history.

The Owls would take a commanding 11-2 lead in the top of the seventh however after plating five runs in the inning.

Brait would collect his second RBI with a sacrifice fly scoring John Rhys Plumlee.

FAU added two more with another two-run shot to center field.

UP NEXT
UCF heads to Clemson for their first road trip of the season. They'll take on the Tigers in a three-game set starting on Friday at 4 p.m., followed by a game Saturday at 2 p.m., and the series finally on Sunday at 1 p.m.

If anyone has been to FAU's armpit of a high school field and the monumental financial support the program receives, they'll understand how they'll probably make the regionals and we won't...yet again.

Did Plumlee overthrow the cutoff man, or did he run all the way from the outfield to home plate to score, errr, tag out the runner himself?
I can’t imagine Plumlee is good at reading pitches. It takes him so long to see what is happening on a football field and he has a lot more time there. Obviously they aren’t apples to apples, but reading a pitch has to be done so quickly and with elite vision to be successful at high levels.

Not trying to pile on. He plays for UCF, so he has my support. Good luck to the kid. This was just a thought.

Excellent point HH!

Anyone willing to place a $50 bet that we WON'T make the regionals?

I've already made a ton if money off folks on this board as to if Milton would have played another down after his injury back in the day.

They just got beat by Stetson :p
I didn’t see the game, but it looks like some kind of break down in the bottom of the last inning. They have gone toe to toe with some of the best teams in the country.. extra inning with Duke and Bama. Held UGA to 4 hits. This is still a really good team.

Mid-week game. I wouldn't put too much emphasis on winning/losing mid-week games.

Ucf jumps out on Clemson again in the third game on a homer

The Knights obviously know that chicks love the long ball ( Bull Durham)

It seems I’m in the minority here but I really like JRP. I always thought he had a great attitude, always struck me as a team first guy when somehow a lot of you think he’s selfish b/c of some campus tour video? So he was asked about his favorite plays, like seriously it was a question pertaining to him, he’s going to talk about his favorite/best plays!

Yeah, he needs to improve at qb, we all know that, the whole staff and team know that I’m sure. His Fresh year at Ole Miss can’t even be considered a qb year, they basically ran him as a rb. This was his first true qb year, so let’s look for that soph bump next year. Listen, he was our best option last year, MK was never it or ever going to be it…bad OL, WR who struggled to get open (play calls maybe?), tons of dropped passes. Just a really weird year all around.

Let’s stop bashing JRP for last years QBing guys. First off he would have been a 3k / 1k qb if not hampered by injury, we were a top 11 offense even still. He would have been a 65%+ if WR/RB caught balls thrown to them, it was so bad we all saw. There were some over throws and batted down balls, but no one else realistic makes those throws either with our OL or play calling. JRP gave 110% effort, was clearly our best option in the offense, he’s playing 2 very specialized sports at a high level which is just insanely hard to do. None of you have played one at a high level, so please spare us your uninformed opinion.

A little baseball tidbit and stats, he’s hitting around .300 and had pivotal HR/SB as well as a HR saving highlight catch in CF today. Other contributions also but still, playing 2 sports, especially ones that overlap is so extremely hard. This dude should be celebrated, but you all just want to break him down. Pretty pathetic, and none of you understand how much he gives just to get all of you nerd’s unknowing disrespect towards him.

He’s old school when all kids played multiple sports from season to season. Almost impossible to do now with athletes

Dude played in the AAC Championship game when he was clearly significantly injured, while the guy most of these folks are clamoring for was sitting at home after telling the media “Let’s go win a championship.” The week earlier. Nuff said.
