I'll be happy to see this secondary graduate and have a complete turnover

A very overated group in my opinion. They played well in spirts (Tulane) and are athletes, but I saw the same thing yesterday. Not looking back at the QB on long passes and face guarding. Also, they let receivers get way behind them,

This secondary has been very prone to mental breakdowns and IMO lack a high football IQ. Will be nice to get some new blood in there.

I've seen an abundance of unsportsmanlike conduct penalties and pass interference penalties for 2 years.

The secondary that we had in 2012-13 wasn't nearly as talented, but played better as a unit

I didnt care too much for Mutcherson's unsportsmanlike conduct. I never understood what he or the coach was trying to do with that.

cringed when seeing Griffin and others do it. This secondary had no natural instincts that you see in good DBs

Antwan Collier is supposed to enroll in January and he's needed. I see him starting as a Freshman.

Glad I'm reading that a lot of you are in agreement. I'm calling it as I see it
Drico is a converted WR, Griffin has no instincts (you'll be sure to read that in NFL draft scouting reports), and Mutcherson shows signs of greatness sporadically, but he's undersized, average speed at best and prone to big play mistakes, penalties and looses receivers in the endzone. Often
he, Griffin and Drico look lost in redzone receiver crossing patterns for TDs.

There's a reason Drico was stuck on special teams for so long, that didn't happen with Jacoby Glenn

Just like the offensive-line which was terrible in 2015. Why would the secondary with a lot of the same players who were fairly experienced upper classman last year all of a sudden become world beaters?

I think last nights game was lost mostly due to a lack of good players at a few positions. Offensive line, QB and secondary

Agreed on the issues that we have experienced with the secondary. There are several good options on who may be starting in our secondary next year.

For what it's worth, here's my projections:

Spring #1 Group:
Corners: Nevelle Clarke & Rashard Causey
Safeties: Kyle Gibson & Tre' Neal
And while all of these Day 1 Spring starters bring a lot to the table, I am projecting the following for the Fall...

Fall Season #1 Group:
Corners: Nevellle Carke & Brandon Moore
Safeties: Brandon Scott & Shawn Burgess-Becker

The bad news- while none of these shies away from contact, Clarke and Moore could stand to gain a little weight in order to be more physical against the run.

The good news, (and the reason they will rise up the depth chart) all of these 4 are sticky in coverage and are ball hawks. If they play together consistently, I can see them holding down the secondary for 2 or 3 years and being in the top 10 in the nation in INTs.

the secondary played very well at times- you can't deny the tulane game. it also hurts when the defense is on the field after back to back to back 3 and outs

With no offense, lots of special teams errors, and no defensive line, tiny linebackers, all defensive backfields will look bad because they are on the field the whole game and must help out against the run. Drico could continue to develop if he is lucky enough to latch on to the right pro teams.

Griffin has a 2 to 1 chance of being drafted in later rounds. He has just enough size and speed to be a decent shutdown corner. He was excellent against the best receivers in the conference and opposing QBs rarely threw to his man. That is why is ints dropped off later in the season, and why Drico benefitted midway in the season. After that, nobody needed to risk passing because all runs were sufficient to trounce us!

without digging into the rankings I don't think this UCF secondary faced many good passing offenses and when they did they gave up big plays(Michigan, Tulsa).

I'm rooting for Griffin or any UCF player to have success in the NFL but I don't see the ball skills from him yet to make the cut at the next level

When we faced one of the top receivers in the nation, Griffin did well. But where there were two or three good receivers or an offensive line with great protection, it was a different story of course. One great DB will not do the job.

Is one of those the guy that got shot with a shotgun?
Gibson better start considering he's one of our highest recruits ever

That was Chris Williams. GOL kicked him off the team last year.
Not really. He got shot and couldn't come back. GOL wanted him back and Frost did not when he was hired, so he transferred ONLY AFTER FROST WAS HIRED.

One thing not liking GOL. It's another thing to allow that to skew the facts
