If you're suggesting UCF is FIU in your scenario, that is a poor analogy.
I think Gators fans viewing us, how we view FIU/FAU is pretty accurate. That's why the win was so sweet.

FIU began in the FBS in 2002 or 6 years after UCF. uf began 100 years before UCF. Hopefully, our UCFans understand that massive difference. FIU, FAU, usf and UCF are very close to one another. It happens that UCF has separated ourselves from that pack to surpass the old FL 3. UCF is truly special

Who mentioned anything about when we started in FBS? We view ourselves as above FIU/FAU/USF, just like you said, we view ourselves as special just as you said. Just like Florida views themselves as above us. (Clearly with the whole 2 for 1 debate)

I've been around for the losses against FIU. Absolutely UCF fans were besides themselves because we should "never lose to the likes of FIU", if you don't think that's the sentiment, I think you're in some alternate reality. This isn't just about P5/G5. It's like if Florida lost to Vanderbilt or something, both P5, both SEC but Florida fans would say they should never lose to Vanderbilt.
You just proved the point of the original post. 1 UF fans look down on everyone else and 2 you 'really hope' hence don't know if UCF fans look at others that way, and, 3. you yourself said "UCF is special, and separated ourselves from the FIU, FAU and usf crowd in other words, losing to FIU would be like UF who believes it's special and has separated itself from FIU losing to UCF and then having a rival, Georgia win the NC would be like..... So. original post was an excellent view on the subject.

I still don't think it's a good comparison. FIU has already beat us. To many uf tshirt bandwagoners they could never imagine getting beat by UCF.
The comparison of FIU beating UCF vs UCF beating uf is dismissive to how big of win it was UCF and how big of a loss it is to uf.
I get the point of the OP. I like the thread idea.
I just hope UCFans don't look down on FIU like uf tshirt bandwagoners look down on us.

I don't think the loss to FIU hurt us recruiting wise and not do I think it created some kind of momentum for FIU in beating us that year. I could be wrong. We did get the young man from Apopka with 4 stars to declare for the 23 class after beating Florida . Is it momentum enough ? Maybe ..it has to start somewhere right?
As an alum of the early 90s I do see UCF as different from everyone in Florida . UCF rose up through the ranks and built a genuine fan base primarily of students and alumni . We scrapped it out in every division earning our stripes . FiU ,and the rest just bought a FBS team off the shelf as it were .. The handful of T shirt fans we have may not appreciate UCFs history but a big chunk of the alumni sure do. I have never felt entitled as a fan because of the history and because I lived it all since the beginning.
UCF lost to FIU that day because on that day their team was better . The Gators are not humble , they are arrogant , entitled brats . They lost on that day to UCF because on that day UCF was better . The Gator fans just won't admit it. BE humble knight fans as the years unfold .Remember our blue collar roots .
