Hey guys I am currently in the market for a job and wanted to see if anyone could point me in the right direction. I have a diverse background that ranges from finance/project management. I can send a resume to anyone that wants to provide an email. I was let go unexpectedly yesterday and I am looking to get back on my feet quick. Thanks for any help.

Why don't you just ride unemployment for a few years and then get onto government assistance? You could eat better than middle class families and have NO bills. Phone, internet, food, housing, all of it taken care of. Also, I hear minimum wage will be $15/hr soon. You should wait it out. Hold out for a management position.

I've been with the same company for 13 years so I don't know. I guess try Indeed or LinkedIn?

Good luck!

Here is some advice, but I'm sure others have even better ideas:
- Update your LinkedIn and lock all social media down to as private as possible.
- Indeed.com is a great place to search for jobs, you can also upload your resume (although you'll have much better luck seeking jobs out instead of waiting for them to seek you out), and with Indeed you can set up email alerts for job searches using various search words, like I had a daily/weekly email of all new job postings that contained the word(s) "program coordinator", "outreach", etc. that were relevant to my background.
- Search for lists of local companies in the finance field, or whatever field you've worked in with project management, and go to each of their company sites and look at the job postings. Many times companies don't post their jobs on any job search website, just their own. Yes, you'll run into a lot of posts that are just to comply with hiring rules when they were doing an internal hire anyway, but it's still worth it.
- Put it out there to friends and family that you're looking. (much like you did here)
- If you need something in the meantime, just grab any job and do some volunteer work because you can always make it look like you were still utilizing your finance skills in a marketable way, just doing it for the benefit of the community. Especially if this unemployment gap lasts longer than a few months.
- Tews is the temp agency Rollins College uses a LOT and it often ends up as a permanent placement, so it's a great place if you need some employment right away: http://jobs.tewscompany.com/

Good luck!

I mean, he didn't exactly specify what he's looking for, just "anything". Not really helpful.
Maybe he is open to a new career path. Losing a job is scary stuff. Especially if you don't have much in savings. What is your degree in?

More important than your degree, what is your background? What is the most recent position you held? For how long? How many years of actual work experience do you have?
Damnit jets. Don't you get it?! He does stuff and they give him money occasionally! I'm beginning to understand why he was "let go."

lol that's exactly what happened. It's no big deal though I think something my be in the works as of this late afternoon. I did mention that if anyone wanted to look at my previous work experience that they could shoot over an email and I would send them what's called a resume. So there's your answer...

So you're asking for help finding a job but refuse to elaborate on which industry you work in or what you'd specifically like to do? I don't think the world works the way you think it does. I'm not going to waste my time asking for your resume if I have no idea what your background is... If you have no background in my field, I'm not interested. All I know is finance, project management, and business degree, super descriptive and enlightening.

You're going to go far.

It's not my job to reach out to you. As the person looking for work it's your job to do the leg work

Froggerz does have a point here. I mean, I'm hiring, but I'm in Virginia and I'm looking for warehouse workers. It's hard to "point you in the right direction" as you stated on the first post when we don't know what direction is right for you. Saying you have a degree in business doesn't do anything either because:
It's not my job to reach out to you. As the person looking for work it's your job to do the leg work
I'm sorry I'm channeling my inner BS on this post but I'm just making sure you understand where the influx of sarcasm is coming from, other than the fact that most people here are online assholes. Myself included.

I also am an online asshole, but in fairness I'm an offline asshole as well.

It must be so nice for all you white assholes to sit back and judge. I'd say everyone in here got a little help to get their job but I'd be wrong. I know for a fact jets got errathing handed to him because he left his application blank, save his name and a checked "white" box for ethnicity, and was hired on the spot. Sucks didn't even bother filling in his name and just checked off white and they asked him to start working that afternoon. It's a pathetic cycle of nepotism and I'm effing sick of it.

Are your's as lazy and inept as mine?
I just don't understand where the disconnect with work comes from. I was literally doing the same job they are 2 years ago and in a more demanding distribution center than this one. All I ask is that they show up to work every day on time. That's literally 50% of the job description. After that, it's just operate a machine and do what the SAP terminal tells you to do.

I've had to replace 90% of the workforce since I got here. It's ridiculous, the crew back in Orlando, the core of it, has been together for at least 10 years.
