Pretty good stats over a full season….unfortunately, I don’t see Gus giving him the job because he’s not his running type QB.

Based on Gabriel’s current 351 attempts and multiplying Dylan’s 91 attempts x 4= 364 attempts.

Unless there is better QB that is recruited, I see the 3 QBs who have had playing time on our roster competing next season for the job. Personally, I have no problem with HC using 2 QBs next season; it worked with the Gators in the past when they won the Championship with Tebow running in short yardage and goal line situations while other QB with his passing skills was used most of the offensive series. You do that until you get an exceptional QB who does both well. You don't keep one QB in one time because they might have their feelings hurt, the truth hurts suck it up.

Bulk of his stats came from Arizona game. He hasn't been quite as good since, and WVU is one of the worst defenses in the conference. Utah defense will be the toughest he will play this season.

UCF has one of the best rushing attacks in the nation along with one of the best running backs. Which should make the QB position at UCF one of the easiest positions in the country.

I will agree with you with one caveat. Arizona was probably the only game also where it seemed Gus kept his hands off then play calling and didn't seem to be secretly sabatouging the game.

A perfect example of this occurred in our last possession before the half in the West Virginia game. RJ Harvey and Rizk have the team moving (they had just scored on the previous drive) and have momentum and then inexplicably after getting a first down Jacurri Brown is running on a keeper up the middle for a loss of 2. Even the announcers called it a boneheaded play that the whole stadium knew was coming. Camera pans to the sidelines and who's holding the play, calling sheet....Gus.

Our first 3 QBs weren’t playing stellar defenses every weekend and still couldn’t pass.

We’ve had the same running game all season yet none of our QBs have made “UCF one of the easiest positions in the country “. None of the first 3 made playing QB look easy.

I think the kid has played well, made big 3 rd down conversions, protected the ball and made good decisions passing and running. We actually have a passing game with Dylan….poo poo it all you want, but the kid deserves credit for us having some semblance of a passing game. The early results are promising and he’s clearly our best QB right now.

I don’t think anyone has suggested it’s a problem bringing in Jacurri on short yardage situations…I do have a problem with a QB starting who can’t pass and can only run…..as has been the case until Rizk.

If Jacurri doesn’t/can’t pass when he does get in..defenses will just key on him and the running game by stacking the box. Coaches aren’t concerned with hurting feelings. I think Gus has found that Finding exceptional QBs who can pass and run is not easy. Maybe Gus should focus on recruiting passers? QBs have to be able to pass. He needs to get over Cam Newton…those quys are rare….even in the NFL.

Man, I couldn't agree more!

He's clearly the best QB, that's for sure. Just not sure I would be projecting him to have a 20-4 TD/INT type season next year even if he improves in the post season. The offense is losing a lot of talent that make him have to be even better. He is going to have to be a leader and the offense maker, where as currently RJ Harvey is that similar to Kyle Israel/Kevin Smith combo.

Good thing is he may have some playmakers in Pittman and Montgomery.. if a wide receiver on the roster steps up or we can pick one up in the portal, he might be okay.

He’s been a nice surprise as a passer in his limited amount of time, and he’s shown he can be a playmaker when needed. Question is, is he going to be “good enough” to lead us to big 12 title contention in the future? Is his ceiling limited? I don’t think I’d be ready to anoint him as the 2025 starter quite yet.

All 3 QBs won’t stay. Will probably be Rizk, Colson and Trujillo and a transfer/ hs recruit. Brown probably leaves. He should be 4th string at best. Probably should change positions. He could be a STs returner if he can catch.

Hades no!

KJ Jefferson hasn't played since Oct. 5 and yet leads the Knights with 1,012 yards and 7 TDs.

The 2025 starter is not on the roster yet unless it is EJ Colson.

Gus has always been a drive killer. How many times have we seen good rhythmic drives stalled because he has be cute an call some dumb random play?

Yeah roll with Rizk and Colson.

For me, it’s a cost issue. Quarterbacks seem to cost the most in the portal. UCF will need to cover so many other positions in the portal (WR, DB’s, LB’s, OL), I would rather spread the limited money we have around to other spots.

We think Colson is even staying? I’d imagine it must feel pretty demeaning to start and play 13 snaps and then get taken over by 2 other QBs to no fault of his own. That can’t sit well with him

Yep, been trying to say that RJ Harvey has been hiding the o-line being ineffective, which makes him even more special
"hiding the o-line being ineffective?'

Dave Chapelle What GIF

UCF ranks No. 4 in the nation in rushing offense. Every running back with at least 30 carriers averages 6.1 yards per carry or more.

The o-line has struggled in pass pro when placed in obvious passing situations.

He should not have started. He was pissing his pants. The lights were too bright. He needs to learn the entire offense. Deer in headlights is very accurate for him that game.

Sure, it might of been premature to start him but he was leading the offense down the field to score on his first drive just to have it all ruined by a senior fumbling the ball, not once but twice! I expected him to be nervous and given the circumstances, I think he did good with what he was given, a year under this offense will do some good for him. If he made an impression on the coaches at 17, I do not believe it’s a sure fire choice of Rizk being the starter, it’s obvious gonna be a competition if he does stay here.

Should stay for spring practices and then make a judgment afterwards.

He wasn’t leading anything. He was handing off. He had -6 yards passing and 6 running. Completed 1 pass. In 4 attempts. It was too early to start him. The opponent was also Cincinatti. 5 win Cincinatti.

Yes, I think Colson is staying for now. Remember, he reclassified and very well could still be in high school right now. I do think it was really strange and random that he started one game.

But I don’t think that necessarily affects him wanting to stay or go. For me, it was more of our coaches trying to shake things up at that point of the season - and an indictment on their ability to judge their own talent that they didn’t go to Rizk then.

And @BlakNGold - I think maybe a little of an over exaggeration as well lol. Deer in headlights? Lights were too bright against CINCY? lol

Team moved the ball 53 yards and picked up a few first downs until J. Richardson fumbled. He took a couple shot plays and was inaccurate for sure. But again, I’m not sure it was as bad as all that. He is very young, very raw. Needs to keep getting stronger, etc.

Just a kid, but I would love for him to stay.

If anyone saw Gus give Rizik the disgusting hand wave behind his back, Gus won’t play him next season.
Gus can't stand Rizk. The constant yelling at him in every game would be enough to make many players not want to play or stay. And don't tell me Gus isn't calling plays any more. His hands were all over the loss tonight. He's an angry, bitter, egotistical, and embarassed washed up old coach and that won't bode well for the future.
