I was listening to the fans around me in the first quarter last night and the obvious became clear to me. The frustrations amongst those centered around the notion of "we" are paying what for that? The NIL era clearly turned the expectations from oh, that's just a kid working his way for a scholly to this guy is being paid to win. Two very different mindsets. One is , oh this young man is playing a sport to get an education while the other is this dude is being paid and we expect results .
I think in some ways you see patience in the idea when students are trying to pay for college by playing a sport. NIL has made this very transactional with journeyman players helping you win now.
I think KJ will be fine as QBs go, but it's clear our expectations going forward are we expect these guys to perform because they are openly being paid. As a result fans patience run thin quickly. It's just the nature of any transactional relationship.
