Regular republicans are splitting from the Trump idiots. George Will and John Kasich yesterday. More to come. These Republicans are finally giving cover to break away from the insanity that is Donald Trump. Hopefully this is just the beginning. Many of us don't identify with the "woke left" or the "Trump cult". We might finally have a home again!

Two guys that didn't support Trump last time. Not sure that it makes any difference in 2020.

George Will and JK have been never Trumpers from day one.

Its weird that progressives are excited about being on the same side as George Will. Kasich has been one of them for 15 years so that makes sense, but one of the most prominent conservative commentators of the last 40 years? I guess politics makes for strange bedfellows.

George Will has spent the better part of the past five years opposing Trump. This isn't exactly news. Same with the Bush family. Why do you think Donald moved W's painting?

Radical Islamist Linda Sarsour endorsed Biden as well. That should lock up the Jewish vote for Trump.

All the living presidents are anti-Trump. We need to a Conservative party that doesn't dabble in racism.

The republican party needs a major change to be competitive in the future. Trump guaranteed back to back generations of liberal voters when he galvanized gen Z against him and millenials didn't fade right as they aged because of him. Gen X and Boomers will slowly die off but there is no way we see an ideology shift in the next 10 years that keeps up with the death rate of old ass republicans. Republicans got more votes in only 1 of the last 7 presidential elections and the demographic breakdowns are insane right now and republicans are in trouble. It might be best if trump gets crushed and they can rebrand because they are losing ground fast.

We hear the same thing every 4 years about one party or the other and it never happens.

The Dems will give them right back when they overreach and go over the Bernie cliff. I hope they give the Republican Party to the Trumpers and start something new, it's too toxic with minorities. A new party has a chance at picking off conservative, traditional minorities that aren't in line with "the Squad".

Got more votes in 1 out of past 7 elections. This isnt nebraska football. If you win one out of 7 times it should let you know theres a problem. Theyve been kept afloat by thin margins in the EC but when the dam breaks it is going to break hard.

Bernie is wildly popular with young people. Continuing left will only secure the 2 generation voters

Young people don't stay young. They grow out of silly beliefs like free college for all and reparations when they start paying their own bills.

Back when GWB was running, the party understood this and reached out to a constituency tailor-made to support them: Hispanics.

However, since Bush, the Republicans have said and done everything possible to alienate Hispanics and send them running away to the other party.

The only thing likely to keep the GOP around is that the American Public gets bored of the same party occupying the WH after 8-12 years.

Except Gen Y isnt following that trend. Were getting old and not shifting right like previous generations. The oldest millennial is pushing 40 and they are almost all still liberals. I think this is because of Trump. He's not made the transition from liberal to conservative easy.

You can track the age that previous generations shifted right and Gen Y is well into that range but with much slower movement.

The Bush family had long standing relationships in the Hispanic (Mexican, Cuban, Puerto Rican) community that they could tap into. It was/is unique to them.

Dont have it. Read it back in 2018 after midterm. It compared generations not by their current political standing but where they were at different ages. All other generations dropped off with age but ours stayed liberal at 20 25 30 35. it declined at a much slower rate than others as they hit 30 and 35.

Trump was ahead in the suburbs this time 4 years ago 35 vs 45.

Hes now down in the suburbs 35 vs 60

This brand of politics was barely good for a fluke win against a shit candidate in 2016 before we all knew how bad he would be. If he lost the popular vote by 3M against Hillary Clinton when the FBI director publicly said she was under investigation days prior to voting how do you think its going to go this time unless he takes dictator level supression measures.

I think I might know what you're talking about. It had something to do with a 40 year trend that goes back and forth between individualism and collectivism.

This isnt it exactly but you can see even as topics become more accepted over the past 25 years millennials dont seem to change to more conservative views.

I remember that. The questions in the survey were pretty vague as I recall and kind of transcended politics but they classified things like "black people are disadvantaged" as a liberal position.
