Jeff Godfrey

Went to ucf in 2010 and he was so much fun to watch this year. Plus he lost the job to bortles and went to wr and had one of the biggest catches ever for us. BOSS
He won the biggest game in the history of our program in 2010. Then he went on to catch the TD to win the biggest game in the history of our program. Then he went on to get 6 touches in the biggest win in the history of our program.

Godfrey was awesome.

Damn near led a furious comeback against NC state at home, too.
That NC State game still bothers me. We just had to stick with the inept Calabrese for as long as we did. And Godfrey still nearly tied the game but McDuffie fumbled it away.

It happens - similar story in Ireland vs P state. Just ever so slightly too long of a leash.

At one point he wanted to come back in some way being on the staff. Believe that's was when Huepel took over.

However, he did loose his opportunity because in 2011 GOL insisted he play the style that GOL wanted within his coaching strategy, a pro-style offense. Still think he could of done some great qb work for us at least thru 2011 if there wasn't an insistence of GOL to change what made him good in 2010.
That's the way I remember it. I also remember GOL saying "I don't know why he's playing differently this year." I was furious at that comment.

In the fullness of hindsight however, it looks like he saw what he could do with Blake and he set up the offense to be one that Blake could succeed in, even though it meant walking away from what had given us so much success with Godfrey.

I was pretty angry at GOL, but after 2013 I had to admit that he probably had known what he was doing.
