John Rhys Plumlee has entered the Portal. Rumors are he may be going to UCF.

Love him as an athlete (ran for 1,023 yrds and 12 TDs in 9 games in 2019) but not as a QB
I watched his highlights and he's definitely a dual threat QB and does have a quicker release than Mikey...but accuracy and arm strength are hard to tell from the highlights. Positives are that he appears fearless (and that was against AL, Auburn (he played QB against GUS) and other good teams on a bad MS team in 2019) and he throws a decent long ball. But a negative is that he doesn't throw a tight spiral. He'll definitely need some work on his weaknesses, but he has an intangible that few if any QB's have and that's his quickness and speed. If he improves his throwing, he would be a heck of a pickup.

Don't see it.....been there for 3 years, 50% passer, 4 passing TDs career. He has 2 years left including a Covid year.

Would love to see him put all over the field as an athlete

No doubt his passing stats were not impressive as a frosh but we must remember that the level of competition was perhaps the toughest in the country...his 35% completion vs AL and 33% vs TX A&M hurt him overall. His running was top notch (over 100 yds vs AL). If he comes here, I bet he gets a chance at QB and he just might surprise everyone....we'll see.

I like using the wildcat periodically when you recognize a numbers and/or personnel advantage. Look what Memphis did to us in the first half of that conference championship game. Of course, it gets figured out eventually.
I like it when we keep same guys on the field and run it with the D not set. When we change personnel and the ump stands over the ball everyone in the world knows and they are in the right spots. Waste of a play.

College Football seems tough to win at the highest level without a gunslinger. I know he made
the title game in 2013 w that style QB but CFB has changed a lot the last 5 years or so …we’ll see
Plumlee visited this week....https://www.si.com/college/ucf/university-of-central-florida-football/rhys-plumlee-transfer

I hate the wildcat. It's a gimmick.
He'd be coming here to be the QB...fast and fearless. Between he, Bowser and Johnny we'll have one of the best rushing attacks in the country so D's will be loading the box. It'll give our WR's a lot of one on ones and the opportunity to throw for a lot of big plays and more yards. Play calling is the key and that's what we got the new OC to do for us. With Plumlee this could be really good offensively if we execute.

This only works if the OL does their part, which they struggled with alot of the year (low scoring output).
Agreed, Wisconsin had a ton of productive running back through the years. Its not because they are amazing at selecing rbs, they just always had a strong OL. A strong OL can make medicore RBs great, a bad OL can make a great RB look bad.

Ron Dayne was a bust in the NFL. He played 7 full seasons for a "total" of 3,500 yds, Avg. 3.8 or 40 yds. per game. For being one the greatest rushers in college FB history he was a bust in the NFL.
He played 7 years. That’s a decent career. He did better than Kevin Smith. They had a couple other guys too that made NFL for a few years but didn’t list them.

He couldn’t outsize players in the NFL like he did in college just running over ppl. Not fast enough otherwise either. I loved watching him wreck college players though.

Why does everyone think this kid is going to compete for the starting QB gig? His Fr QB stats were horrible. Yeah, he can run well but he was only 53% completion rate, 910 yds and 4 TDs against 3 picks. We also are loaded with RB talent. I get this offense is a little more run oriented but so was our 2017-2018 teams as well. We ran all over people, which opened up the passing game. Could be much needed leadership and knowledge of the QB position, though. He is a veteran guy.

Not exactly ecstatic that we didn’t pull in at least one quality QB transfer that showed potential at their school last year. I mean, I trust the process until it doesn’t seem right, and right now it’s way too early in the Gus era to be judging that yet. He did well with what we had last year and his first batch of recruits haven’t touched the field yet so you have to let it play out.

Gus has excelled with run-first QBs over the years, this guy is an exceptionally good running QB. The thought is, that with our running back talent, he only needs to be ok throwing the football for this to be a damn good offense.

Also, with Plumlee, I doubt he's been guaranteed anything. If Castellanos or Keene are the better QBs they'll play and Plumlee will move to WR again, where he's effective as well.

I’m hoping it JRP, Keene , TC in that order next year. Keene is a decent backup that can take over for a few series. But running QBs get hurt so even if he’s backup to start season he could play a lot.
