So my wife and I went out to practice on Saturday, great to see UCF in pads. Jordan Akins is an absolute beast lining up out at wide receiver. They have him listed at 6'3", 237 lbs, but he looks a lot bigger when you see him at field level. He should create all kinds of mismatches out on the edge for DBs and linebackers. Wouldn't be surprised if he ends up as more of a receiving TE if he continues to grow. Gonna be another great year for the Knights!

I'm looking forward to Jordan taking more of a star role this upcoming season!

He had flashes of greatness last year. But, some mistakes as well.

He's 11% body fat and GOL wants him to lose another 10lbs to get faster. Speed, routes and hands are all that needs to be worked on. He'll be 23 next month. If he has any kind of success this year, and he will because he'll be the #1 target, he's gone.

A UCF education will still be an option in 5-10 years, and NFL career may not be.

I really doubt he would leave before JR season is done. Right now he wouldn't get drafted anyways.

Not next month, but if he has a breakout season in this fall he will be in 2016.

He'll need to have shown a ton of improvement, especially in speed, before he'd even get looked at by the pros. 1 year at a time.

I see a lot of potential based on size and physical maturity, however I just didn't see very many attributes last year that showed me he is going to be a dominant receiver. He didn't make very many tough catches, didn't run great and crisp routes, had his share of drops and lacked quickeness and speed. Other than breaking a few tackles against smaller defenders Akins didn't make anyone miss after making the catch or have a burst for major YAC. Does anyone on this board think he's all of a sudden be super productive? Now I'm hearing NFL talk?

Hopefully he'll turn out similar to Ray Shipman.

Shipman had it tough first season after leaving basketball
but adjusted well second season to football.

Beat he's closer to 230 with the heat out there:)

I agree Mike. He had alot of drops (Key drops). Hopefully he turns it around this year! Looking forward to watching him!

He's mature, he's athletic, and he takes to coaching. Baring injury, there is nothing to suggest he won't be a successful WR/TE here at UCF. He'll get better with drops, he knows that he has to; at this moment, nothing suggests he's an NFL player, but he has the ability to change that.

lol at pro prospects, did you see him last year?

I hope the kid grows as a receiver, I could see him being a decent college WR, doubt he goes to the next level.

He did go over 4 1/2 years between his last football game prior to playing at UCF...so for playing for the first time in a long time, his mistakes were understood.

Looking forward to seeing what he can do over the next 3 years with UCF...as he gives UCF some options (TE, mismatches out wide as a WR, etc...).
