So, I've had to deal with German law for nearly 3 decades. Zealous lawyers constantly make issues for us in open source.
The Washington Post left out an important tidbit, to purposely demonize Clapton. Under German IP law, zealous lawyers don't even have to get Clapton's permission to bring a suit. They can bring an IP infringement lawsuit against anyone, and then expect payment out of the settlement when they bring it to Clapton.
Understand the US media has gone full on demonization of Clapton because he refuses to play in avenues or locals that mandate vaccines, not that he is against vaccination. He is utterly being smeared, and this is the state of journalism in the US now.
He doesn't even have anything to do with these lawsuits in Germany, and cannot. German IP enforcement is very draconian in that even the actual IP holders don't get a say in many cases.
