Was helmet to helmet. Not sure how the heck the AAC refs overlooked that
Agreed. Jrp lowered his head. Like the hit on riddel and pat jensizkiDisagree. It was good no call.
The penalty was on another player, pushing on their sideline, I think.Didn’t they actually call it targeting on JRP?
Pretty sure the penalty was on us, but wasn't announced. JRP was 1 yard from a 1st down and all of a sudden it was 3rd and 16.The penalty was on another player, pushing on their sideline, I think.
I didn't understand the no call either. Intent is not part of the rule and clearly he led with his helmet. Was helmet to helmet. Not sure how the heck the AAC refs overlooked that
The NCAA targeting rule bans any forcible contact leading with the crown of the helmet or to the head or neck area of a defenseless player. He was a runner. Helmet to helmet is legal on a runner.
This. JRP was already going out of bounds, the defender lowered his head and went right to side of JrP’s helmetThe NCAA targeting rule bans any forcible contact leading with the crown of the helmet or to the head or neck area of a defenseless player.
JRP initiated contact. It was his crown. The defender was hit ob side of his helmet. Not his crown.JRP's reaction afterwards is exactly why the rule was created. Should have been called.
Its their Identity now, like the Rutgers teams that would T off when the other team went into victory formation. Oh wait Cincy did that tooThere’s obviously a pattern here, hitting players out of bounds. Did you see the hit on that SMU player last week wher they were frustrated and tore off his helmet? They are now the most penalized team in the FBS and coach Fickell says he’s proud of it.
JRP was well within bounds. If he hasn't gotten hit hard he'd have had the first down. JRP lowered his helmet. The defender was putting his shoulder to him. Their helmets hit, yes. It wasn't targeting. There’s obviously a pattern here, hitting players out of bounds
Teams that don't like it can play football until 0:00. In a one-score game I don't understand why teams are expected to give up just because the other team is taking a knee. Its their Identity now, like the Rutgers teams that would T off when the other team went into victory formation. They may have reviewed it upstairs. There was plenty of time. It's unclear to me the division of duties regarding the "replay official" and why sometimes we have to get out the little TV for the R ref to look at.JRP lowered his head before contact. Got to lead with your shoulder and not your head. Surprised that they never reviewed the play though.
I was confused on this as you stated.Pretty sure the penalty was on us, but wasn't announced. JRP was 1 yard from a 1st down and all of a sudden it was 3rd and 16.
They didn’t do a good job of announcing it and even the field markers took a minute to get it right.I was confused on this as you stated.
I would guess its lands fully on "defenseless player'. After watching it a day later, I'd say you can't say he was defenseless. PS, the rule is just stupid anyway. You mean if someone hits me in the head with the crown of the helmet, yet I saw it coming, I can't get a concussion--- AWESOME.The NCAA targeting rule bans any forcible contact leading with the crown of the helmet or to the head or neck area of a defenseless player.
The rule is to prevent neck injuries. Not concussions.I would guess its lands fully on "defenseless player'. After watching it a day later, I'd say you can't say he was defenseless.
