Agree, unnecessary.
Separately, Smollete's punishment should have been much harsher to set an example. What he did was absolutely inexcusable for such an extremely sensitive issue that literally sparks riots.
No way, not for this particular crime... I'm getting sick of media telling me how racist I am, when all I do is goto church, coach kids of all colors, raise my kids to be colorblind like King preached about... This bullsh!t must never happen again... So the punishment needed to be so severe that no punk ever thinks about doing this again... There should be an equivalent of "hate crime" multiple applied to these cases.
Yeah, every accusation other than Ford's herself were recanted. The 'pants down/penis' story, the letters and other things, including the 'rough up at the bar' non-sense. So many things came through Kamala Harris' office, which 'made her.'

The worst thing was this, published a year later, about how other women were being pressured to not cross Ford, and come out and support her. That was probably the most disturbing fact in the 'aftermath' of Ford.
