Just watched KS ST handle OK and DG

notice how Dillon Gabriel gets in a tie or 1 possession game late? much more high throws and rushed throws w too much sauce on them

better than any QB we have now but he doesn’t have ‘It’

I'm convinced he would have found a way to lose to Florida last year so idk. Not saying Keene was great that game (he wasn't) but we won a big game regardless and DG never did that for us.

4th down call in the late 3rd/ start of 4th quarter where he had a WR open and just missed . A lot of talent but he gets tight in close games

I didn’t watch the game and although I’m hearing that DG missed some throws, Adrian Martinez simply beat him and Oklahoma

AM is a good guy. Lot’s f class. He finally gets a signature win after 4 years of hell at NGEbraska. Good for him and hope he makes his first bowl game.

in games where the defense provides no margin for error, DG has been error prone. Still would take him here this year.

He's better than almost anyone in the nation when playing against bottom feeders because then he gets lots of time to throw to typically wide open receivers. But against teams that create a close challenge he's worse than even an average QB who remains calm under pressure.

This goes all the way back to his high school days. His one-dimensional deep ball game has never saved him against teams with good DBs and/or a strong pass rush. His weaknesses have largely gone unnoticed due to the huge numbers he puts up against less competitive teams.

Why is everyone so upset at Dillon Gabriel ? It's not like the school or the students ran him off. Gus Malzhan refused to tailor his offense to his talents and he chose Mikey Keene over him. This was an awful decision, IMO. I wish DG all the best and I hope he gets a legit shot to play in the NFL.

(FWIW, I still keep pushing the Orlando Predators to give McKenzie Milton a shot at QB. They need a QB for 2023 and with Herkie Walls as the new coach, I think he can do well.)

I think he's above average, but not elite. The ability to hit explosive passing plays helps put away lesser opponents earlier and put teams on the back foot and you can see how much our offense misses that. We'd be odds on favorites to win the AAC with him, but it is what it is.
Agree we would be AAC favorites

What? Nobody picked Keene over Socko at any point last year.

DG got 'injured' and stayed 'injured' throughout the whole season. Of course he also lost the Louisville game (another big game he would lose for us) and that loss spelled the beginning of the end for that season. It finished well enough but no thanks to him.

People are not pleased because it looks like DG “quit” on the school after his injury. Maybe he did, maybe he didn’t. Maybe someone whispered in his ear that OU will take him if he redshirts. Who knows.

But the fact remains that he played hard and had good numbers playing for Gus in the first few games, got hurt, and is now playing elsewhere.

My daughter and I shared a hotel elevator with him and he did ask us our floor and pressed the button. So maybe I shouldn't be so hard on him. But then again, my daughter and I did agree that he gave off an arrogant vibe. It was a very quiet elevator ride. All the other players we saw at the hotel were very engaging and appreciative of our support.

Theres no way anyone told him Oklahoma wanted him because they didn’t know their coach and 2 QBs would end up leaving them until it happened.

Looking back it seems as though he knew for a while he planned on leaving. It seemed like he checked out once he got hurt.
He may have decided before he got hurt he didn’t like coaches and wasn’t coming back. But the notion of Oklahoma telling him is false. He doesn’t go there if Caleb Williams doesn’t leave.
BTW when did you graduate from Wellington? You have Daunte Profile pic so had to be around my time.

Frost couldn’t win with Martinez at QB? He totally outplayed DG. Man, CFB is very unpredictable this year (when KS and KS St were the 2 best college teams that I watched today) but one thing’s for sure, Gus needs to get our O operating more smoothly and not sputtering or we’ll be in way over our heads next year
Martinez was awesome. I've never seen him this fired up and playing well!

I graduated from Wellington High in 1992. I think only three or four students from my graduating class went to UCF back then. My daughter graduated from Wellington High a year ago and is now at UCF with the majority of her graduating class. A lot has changed. Being a witness to all of these changes is what makes UCF so special. All the students from my graduating class that went to UF and FSU definitely don't have the same connection that we have with our University.

Im 93 and about 20 people that i know came to UCF. A bunch of 94 too and probably more and more as years have gone by. I actually had never heard of it until 92 or so. I had to ask a friend who told me he got accepted, where is that?
