Sounds like the criticism is getting to him. He doesn't like a leader and is pushing panic button.

Comfort zones are always difficult to establish, especially early into a position. We'll see what he's made of by the end of the season.

Guy sounds like he's definitely hearing the criticism but curious what makes you think he's pushing the panic button? Sounded like he took ownership of the results for better or worse. He didn't blame anyone else. And mentioned he wasn't changing his routine. Not defending him, but that's not panicking.

He was cranking up the excuses about injuries. Saying that there are so many times you can say "next man up." Just issued excuses and not solutions. Also saying that he works long hours and doesn't get home till 5am, which if he worked for Bill Snyder would be seemingly going home early since Snyder is legendary for working his coaches to death. The whole interview seemed like a way for Key to try and sell himself to the fanbase as he knows that a lot of people want his head. A desperate way to try and use excuses when his offense doesn't perform again. Though I didn't agree with Charlie all the time, his interviews were more analytical and about what went right and wrong. Not a whoa is me I'm working long hours and everyone's hurt interview.

He's getting paid 300k to produce. He's not producing.
You know ... just that comment, given all the coordinators who have left to get paid a heck of a lot more. Nevermind, no one will listen to reality.

I think you're reading too much into it. I think he sounded like a guy that knows he hasn't been getting it done. Hell, they brought up the fact his offense is ranked last in the nation.

If he wants to sell himself to the fans he'll have to pull off a miracle. I'm hoping he does just well enough to make season less miserable but still bad enough the staff gets fired.

Overall he gave the responses one would normally give but with a hint of more detail and personality than a normal coach would give. The only response I had a problem with was the one regarding play-calling with the wild-knight and throwing off a rhythm. But that is my own distaste in the sort of coach/player logic of "You have never played the game so shutup," but being clumsily coy about "suggestions."

I think there are quite a few that seem to under-estimate injuries and how they can throw a monkey-wrench into any good situation. We were fortunate in past years (notable 2013) where almost none happened. He should get the season to show any sort of improvements. The season has already been lost so might as well just self-evaluate what is here and make moves in the off-season. Though I suppose to play devils advocate, Key should have used last year as "Head Coach of the Offense" to acclimate himself with the role of OC. If one was to go down that road, he is in a lose/lose situation. Either he didn't bother, or he did and is just not qualified to be an OC. (That being said, wish Shannon would have asked about that, but whatevs)

Definitely liked reading this part ...

"How has Bo Schneider been handling being the starter and adjusting?
... He's the type of kid that does a good job just laughing things off and getting back into work, [he] takes pride in being the first one through the doors in the morning and the last one to leave at night and he's gonna be a really good football player...it just so happens this year that we're gonna have to make him a good football player a little earlier than the growth chart probably said."

I remember watching Bortles his first year, thrown into the fire. As long as he's coming off the field, not worry about the play he just made, or didn't make, but the next ones he's going to execute, I feel better for our future.

This guy sounds like a complete jackass, 'Let the dog lick at my face' for an interview?

He's much more mentally impaired than i thought.

Blake redshirted his first year in 2011. And then coming off the bench spotting Godfrey in only 10 games, he almost threw for 1000 yds and 6 TDs. Every time Blake stepped on to the field in 2011, he looked light years ahead of Godfrey. He looked like the starter and Godfrey like the backup.

Blake ate the fire and pissed it with excellence. You need to check your facts.
