I saw that our former AAC brother, Louisville landed a game in 2018 versus Alabama in your backyard! What the hell?

I love how these schools from the Power 5 get to show up on our turf and play a nationally televised game. This is going to be a recruit coup for both schools.

So leading up to the opening of the 2018 season, Orlando will be focusing more attention on the fact Alabama is coming to town to play Louisville then its own home town football team, UCF. Sad, very sad.

Orlando is hosting FSU game too...as well as their spring game when their stadium is being renovated...not a big deal.

The updated Citrus Bowl is focused on getting those kickoff type of games like Atlanta. So it makes since. I mean really that's like saying Atlanta is more focused on all the big games that open up in That Chik-fil-a classic instead of Georgia Tech.

All about that money son. Don't be a hater.

Money - and the fact that UCF has no local yolkel following like UF, FSU, or other schools where people who never participated academically will go to great lengths to rep the team.

As a whole, Orlando's population couldn't give a rat's behind about UCF football unfortunately.

I think they'll change their minds once they start playing kick off games in this heat. Football games in the Citrus Bowl in September are brutal.

Actually this is an indication of what a great destination Orlando is for a football game. I cannot see this being a success if it were not for the allure of the Mouse; something that ultimately works in UCF's advantage.

You also have to remember that UCF is kind of in its own world on the outskirts of Orlando. What drives UCF is not necessarily what drives Orlando

I feel worse for the season ticket holders who lost a home game and have to travel.

You obviously don't know much about Orlando, we are an international city that
invites people to many different facilities to offer the beauty of Central Florida.
Does Cincinnati get a large crowd up there from the international community?

Yeah UCF doesn't really win. Us fools from Louisville and Bama do as well as the City of Orlando. Great for recruiting.

Yup, we lose every year when major programs play two bowl games in our back yard. Tell me, how many bowl games does the great city of Cincinnati host?

I think the point many are trying to get across it the connection between the 'City of Orlando' and 'UCF' is nil. No one cares how many bowl games are played in the college team's host city. While that may be a good marker for the city's economy, popularity, or etc - it doesn't directly do anything for the adjacent team besides expose potential recruits to teams they would likely never see.

The fact that other schools (not being UCF) get to come into your territory on a big stage (ie. kickoff classic games or bowl games) and market their programs to the high school players and coaches in the region is in no way an advantage to UCF. It's a disadvantage if anything.

If Ohio State were to schedule a football game in Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati and play another opponent who recruits players in Ohio. That would really suck for UC.....thankfully that is not happening.

So your point is that 2016 and 2017 Orlando HS recruits are going to pick Alabama or UL over UCF because they'll be a single game in Orlando in 2018?

Yeah Bearcat Nippert doesn't know what his point is. Just trying ruffle UCF feathers. Orlando is a tourist destination and with the renovated Citrus Bowl of course they are going to try and get some big games to kick off the season. Yeah I don't think it helps kids chose UL or Bama over UCF it just helps recruiting as a whole though for both programs who recruit the state of FLA pretty hard. It's really more and Orlando thing then a UCF thing.

Yeah, I could see how it could help UL recruit an Orlando kid over Clemson or Texas, 1 game near home is better than 0 games near home. However if a recruit's primary motivation is playing close to home, they'll go to UF or UCF, one game in Orlando over the 3-5 years is irrelevant, compared to 6 or more every year.

That's my point. Anytime you get one of those kickoff's on National TV it's good for your program and recruiting regardless but, if it can be in a state you recruit pretty hard that's even better. Recruiting as a whole. Don;t think it's about recruiting Orlando kids to those schools in particular against UCF it's about recruiting kids across the whole state of Florida. From a UL fan side. Going to a kids home in Florida that might want to go out of state it's nice to tell them we will have a game back in their home state against Bama in a few years as well. For sure doesn't hurt at least.

The coaching staffs of both teams can invite local kids to stand on the sideline during the game and watch, they can make contact with them in Florida versus that kid having to travel to Alabama or Louisville's campus. It's huge to get that face time with these kids. Recruiting kids out of Florida is the life blood of many of the midwestern schools like UC and Louisville.
