sounds like either Babers or Matt Campbell trashed UCF constantly during his visit weekend to their school

Even though the Daytona Beach Mainland running back was taking recruiting trips to Syracuse and Iowa State, his UCF loyalty was strong and he said the more he got recruited from other coaches, the more he felt compelled to keep his commitment to the Knights.

"There was a lot of negative recruiting," Killins said of coaches, whom he did not name, trying to belittle his UCF choice. "A lot of schools were selling me on what they can do and what UCF can't do. Some would ask me things like, 'Why UCF? They were 0-12 last year,' stuff like that.

"There were a lot of negative things. When coaches are recruiting kids to their school, I don't think they should put down another school just to sell theirs, especially if a kid is committed to another school. ... That's not a way to get at a kid to make him change and commit to that school. It shouldn't be that way. They should just talk positive about their school. So yeah, coaches did do that."

Being committed to UCF and hearing negative things from other schools certainly rubbed Killins the wrong way.

"It was annoying," he said. "That's not going to sway a kid, putting down the school that he is committed to. I just really didn't like that."

Syracuse and Iowa State have no positives to offer, they can only go negative. Iowa State can only say, "Lucky for you, we were in the right place when football was played with leather helmets, now we're in a power conference... can UCF say that?"

That was my thought. Despite 0-12, UCF has a better chance of ending up in a new years day bowl or in the playoffs during his tenure here than either of those teams. It'd be one thing if it were Ohio State or Alabama saying it, but Syracuse and Iowa State? Come on.

From article:

"...he said the more he got recruited from other coaches, the more he felt compelled to keep his commitment to the Knights."

He made me nervous taking these trips, but glad to see the negative recruiting backfired.

0-12. UCF's record in 2015. Also the average range of temperature in Syracuse for half the year. Only difference is, our 0-12 will without a doubt improve, theirs will not...ever.

Just a stupid question, but if a recruit is 100% committed to a school, why do they go ahead and take visits to other schools? Besides the free trip (!).

Equate it to a high school crush. Gotta play the field. Marriage before you're ready is never good. They think they are in love, but in reality they just need more sex.

Very, very interesting. Thanks. I'm not surprised. Dirty bastards. This is recruiting, but I hope that we don't use these tactics as we have enough selling points. Honestly, he made the right choice.

GOL wiped out all the gains made by the Fiesta Bowl and 2 AAC titles.
You're kidding, right? I for one was tired of GOL after 10 years let alone 12 but getting us new facilities, a Top 10 ranking, winning conferences and bowl games can't be negated by one crappy season. Get real here, the guy deserves his due. Besides, destiny would have it that the timing was perfect to get Frost and reboot the staff.

Only time will tell. He didn't get us new facilities.

GOL whiners really love hugging his nuts more than anyone around. It's completely retarded to think 1 bad season has put us in the same place as the last year of Kruz. Quit hugging his nuts and get over it. He's gone. So far, Frost hasn't won a damn game yet. Whine whine whine.

Saying that you want them and coming up with the money for them are two completely different things.

You're clueless on this. As a person who was on his staff the year we missed a ton of fall practice time due to those 2/3 hurricanes hitting central Florida; I witnessed GOL wield his powers to get that indoor facility built and ready for that following year, so that it never happened again.

So yes, he did get facilities built here.

Again, he did not come up with the money. A coach saying that they want an indoor facility is completely different than coming up with the money. I'm sure that every coach in America would have been complaining about the need for an indoor facility if they missed practice because of weather.

So by your logic, no coach in college football/sports is responsible for adding facilities or any other features to their campus? Just boosters/ADs? Cool. Good to know.

Geez let GOL go.
He brought us some good accomplishments like it or not. Just enjoy that we got a staff to replace him that can sell the program and recruit. Still to be seen of they can coach em up. Right now I'm not gonna worry about that and just be impressed with what they delivered.

By the way Iowa State negative recruiting anyone is hysterical. They have not won a Conf. Championship since leather helmets were all the rage in 1912.
