Sources tell ESPN 580 that Bowling Green Athletic Director Chris Kingston has emerged as the leading candidate for the vacant Athletic Director position at the University of Central Florida. Kingston, who is a UCF alum, has served as the AD at Bowling Green (BGSU) since 2013.
A source familiar with the process says that Kingston’s hiring is not a done deal year, but he is the front runner for the position. The hire is expected to be made in late November or early December.
In Kingston’s two-plus years, BGSU has seen increased success academically across nearly all of the school’s eighteen programs. Kingston has made several important head coach hires the past two years that includes bringing in Michael Hunger as men’s basketball coach in April.
Prior to his stint with Bowling Green, Kingston spent more than two years at North Carolina State University as the Senior Associate Director of Athletics and Executive Senior Director of Athletics.
UCF’s Athletic Director position has been vacant since George O’Leary stepped down as interim-AD on October 12th. UCF has not had a full-time Athletic Director since Todd Stansbury left the school to take the same position at Oregon State in June.
If hired, Kingston will have a full to-do list in Orlando. The Knights are looking for a new head football coach after George O’Leary retired on Sunday. UCF, currently in the American Athletic Conference, is also searching for any way to crack in to a Power 5 conference.

Makes a lot of sense, successful UCF alum. You'd think the likelihood of Dino Babers as the new HC goes up to if he's the AD.

Kingston is forward thinking. The perfect "slightly under the radar" find and what UCF needs.

He rejuvenated the uniforms for Bowling Green and was quoted as saying "If you look good, you feel good...and if you feel good, you play good". I imagine, being a UCF alum, he would be the first to listen to fan suggestions...he's one himself.

Babers would undoubtedly follow. Babers has a Big 12 pedigree having already coached at Baylor.

.....And if you play good, you lay good! OMG! Sounds just like the Firm_bizzle. Get this man to Orlando!

Can we PLEASE stop talking about uniforms and name tags, as if that's going to thrust us into Valhalah!!
When has cool uniforms and name tags been quoted as being anything other than a cool feature that recruits and fans alike want to see? I don't recall anybody implying that there is some mystic force around cool uniforms or names on jerseys that defies logic and propels teams into stardom. All I recall is people mentioning the fact that it would be something cool to have and that recruits have openly admitted they like.

In other words, why you butthurt?

Can you please change your damn name old man?

What one wears has a psychological affect on esteem and confidence. Scientifically proven. End of argument. Shush.

Also, if a recruit was trying to decide and everything else is equal, having good aesthetics could make a recruit lean your way.

It makes a difference.

...and learn how to spell Valhalla. You would be booted from Asgaard by now.

Hell yea we want our real UCF Black and Gold back not that ugly ass Georgia Tech Gold that we wear now. Oh and bring back our Gold Helmets.

We need to explore more than the use of the colors of black and gold for our uniforms and helmets.

Can you believe GOL was almost our full time AD? He sounds energetic something this program needs.

All this is accurate.

I knew Chris while he was at UCF. He's a good guy and in my opinion a solid choice. He certainly had his fun in school and is a real likeable guy. However, he was also very focused with a strong work ethic. His military background is evidence of that.
