He and his staff really worked their butts off to stave off what could have been a total disaster. Some of the success is the momentum of a new coach and the fast offensive style. Now the real wok begins. If Coach Frost is able to get a 6-7 win season this year he could really make an impact after he and his recruiting team have a year of Florida recruiting under their belts.

Wont be surprise if 2-deep consists mainly of 1st and 2nd year players and by mid-season he's turning this thing around.

There should be lots of open scholarships for next recruiting cycle.

Kudos indeed.
There were a lot of people in here trashing those of us that had high expectations about what these guys should be able to pull off in recruiting this year. I knew if these guys were all they are rumored to be they not only could but should pull off a good class. 0-12 be damned. This program has a good history of winning and a Recent BCS Bowl win. That paired with the "hype" of bringing Oregon systems to UCF were huge recruiting tools.
They clearly sold the tools right and brought in a Damn good class. Frost proved his hype with the class. Much respect.

Frost and company did a heck of a job with this class. Now lets find out if any of them can play at this level. I am encouraged by the offer lists some of these kids had and decided on UCF. Hopefully some of the lineman can play right away, they may have to. Hiers, Hudanek, and Dowdell, they could be starters for a long time.

Outstanding job by coach Frost and staff. Looking forward to the season.

Frost was very political in saying everyone will get the chance to compete for starting positions in his 4 pm interview but I will be surprise if 2 deep isn't made up of large percentage of younger players this year. The OL has been horrible lately and many players were playing so slow last season on defense.

Anyone else find it satisfying that we pulled in a better class after 0-12 than USF did after what was probably their best season (in terms of the conference title chase)?

Coach Frost continues to impress me. What he was able to pull off considering the $h5t season we had is nothing short of a miracle. Next up, coaching this team up and shaping them into the team he envisioned to take us back to prominence.

Kudos indeed.

Yes, much respect to Frost and his Staff. Also, much love and respect to the recruits who trusted in the UCF future and vision although they had other high level school offers dangled at them.

When's spring practice start? Want to see the mesh or Oregon/Osborne that Coach Frost has in mind.

They did a great job recruiting in a very short time. I hope the spring practices are not closed. I been going to at least one saturday for years. I am ok if the fall camp is closed. :sunglasses:

I joined this forum specifically to comment on the UCF board. I have no affiliation with the school, other than they played one of my two teams a couple of years ago in Penn State. I was impressed with them and started following them since. Obviously, Bortles was fun to follow. My other school was Oregon, which brought me to these forums. I believe you all know the character and quality of the coach you have in Frost. I was really disappointed when I read that he was leaving Oregon, until I finished reading the sentence and saw that he was taking the UCF job. I will say, I think his departure hurt the Ducks recruiting effort, but in the end, that is the nature of CFB.

Anyway, I am stoked that you folks got him and super excited for Frost, the players, and the UCF fan base. Honestly, my optimistic parts have you guys finishing second behind Houston, but the realistic parts of me have no idea. It may take awhile to learn the system and develop the Lines, but other than that, I have to believe the impact will be immediate.

I am hoping he taps that Florida talent, builds a program as exciting as Oregon (to follow) and generates a real buzz. Congrats, Knights.

What I am excited about is that UCF games could be the "event" for the city on the weekends. There is nothing better than hanging out on a nice fall day in Orlando on the memory mall with a beer and some really dark sunglasses scoping out all the hot girls. With this new offense we have the potential to blow teams out, which means that everyone will be in their seats on time. :sunglasses:

Penn State has a nice campus, but I don't think too many institutions can compete with UCF in that respect (climate and "scenery"). However, Penn State in the fall is a spectacle.

Its already been announced that Spring Practice will be closed to fans. (Still obviously open to HS Coaches and HS Soph/Juniors, etc...).

Just another reason to show up for the Spring game as Coach Frost mentioned at the Fan Event on Wed that the game will be on either Friday NIGHT, April 15th or Saturday NIGHT, April 16th (haven't decided yet on exact date...should know by next week).

With moving the Spring Game to night, should easily be the largest spring game crowd ever.

Hmmmm, I wonder if they'll have 4 rivers.

Finally, a Spring Game time that will be accessible to the masses!

Past games on Saturdays were not available to the masses?

Some are already complaining about not being able to attend if the game is played on Friday night, which is a possibility.

Still didn't happen when UCF was blowing out teams at home under GoL in C-USA. So what changes?

Sorry. Missed all the fun over the last couple of weeks as I turned of the phone/internet and enjoyed Spain and Italy...and yes, the trip was awesome!

I've been harping on seeing how this coaching change tells us where our program is at. A much bigger question than having people arguing about this coach or that coach, etc...It's always easy when things go your way but seasons like last year really show if you are window dressing with nothing behind it, or if the foundation is solid.

Our recruiting looks pretty much on par with the last 5 years or so. Kudos to Frost for pulling in a solid list of athletes with a short timeframe and staff. This means regardless of perception kids want to come here and it isn't just because of this coach or that coach. It is because kids believe our program is a winner and we apply the resources to make it happen. Now, we've got to actually climb back up the mountain but I feel real good about our program in the coming years.

Really? You mean because GoL called the dogs off into the 3rd quarter? Did you want to see the scores run up? What else was missing?

Stop...FB has an obsession. A sort of sickness. The only cure is to stop talking about GOL

You're losing the context.

I'm not talking about GoL. I'm talking about how lame our fans have been when we were kicking ass and winning with great defense, and a decent offense. Even some of our 2013 games weren't sold out. That was just pathetic.

It doesn't matter who the coach is. This will be a continued issue.

While I agree you have to look at where we have been in order to know where we are going. Our fan base is still pretty immature. this idea that you go to a game only when you are winning is pretty lame. I have had more fun at games with 3,000 people at the Citrus Bowl than I have had at some games at Ben Hill Griffin stadium with 80,000 fans. College football is supposed to be about kicking back, enjoying a tailgate and some entertainment for a few hours with your friends. Drinking a beer (or a smuggled mixed drink) while getting you butt handed to you by Houston is still better than watching something like Arkansas vs. Auburn on ESPN.

I wish every UCF fan could go to a Wisc. game. Even in their worst years the fans, especially the students are amazing. For the most part they could care less about the score or who they play. It is about the fun in the stands, and the party afterwards.... oh my.

You mean like against NC State and Kansas State in 2010? Or Texas in 2007? Syracuse in 2009? Ohio State and Missouri in 2012? NC State again 2014? Oh wait a minute we lost all of them.
GOL must go!

Yeah but most importantly a complete game and half time adjustments.

We beat UGA and won goddamn Fiesta Bowl the hell are you on

Youre being sarcastic about those two wins right?

If not GOL is 7-23 versus the P5. Follow the context you idiot.

Why would anyone be sarcastic about those wins? Especially the Fiesta Bowl. That was a solid game against a top 10 opponent as a 20+ point underdog in as big of a spotlight as you can get.

Just for perspective lets look at a few other G5 programs for comparison. Boise, easily the gold standard when it comes to high profile P5 wins is 12-12 over the same time period. Playing 1/3 of the P5 opponents. Winning half. Still not even getting a look at realignment.

The front runner for B12 inclusion UC is 15-28 and that is giving credit for wins over P5 teams that were in CUSA and Big East at the time they played. Right at 35% and that is a program that was in a BCS conference for several years.

It only drops from there. In fact UCF under GOL is still in the top percentage of G5 programs as far as wins over P5.

The real point is nobody is going to remember a loss against BC or Wisc. when there is nothing on the line. However they will remember the Fiesta Bowl win when a BCS bowl game is on the line. Perspective. would you trade the win against Baylor for three other P5 wins over the last years?

No chance at all that most of those teams were more talented than us. Nope. No chance that we were underdogs in most of those games. Nope

Oh and by the way, in case you have been missing GOL is gone.
