"UCF could very well be one of the worst teams in the American Conference this year." Not a very objective statement, considering we've had one of the very worst teams every other year in the AAC. Why not say, "may not expect an any better record than it's previous low finishes under Jones"? And I'd argue that the Knights are odds on to outperform the football team, the worst in the nation last year.
Jones' freshman class was his best and has enormous room for immediate improvement, especially once the team gets its point guard back to direct the offense. None of the graduates and transfers was a starter except Adonis, who lacked the quickness, leaping ability, and ball handling that are trademarks of Dawkins teams.
Others here have cautioned about the lack of depth, but that's in comparison to arguably our deepest team ever (which led to disharmony among bench riders). SMU ran roughshod over the league last year going 7 deep, and other top AAC teams gave 7 players most of the PT. The obvious question marks are how the veterans accept and adapt to Dawkins' different system, can potential be realized by the underclassmen and newcomers, and will injuries be kept to a minimum.
