The fan base as a whole should not turn on a collegiate team when performance is sub par. After all these are young kids, who are not paid, and are mistake prone. I think most people get this.

The reason I am disappointed with the team, or more specifically the Coaching, is because of the following;

1. The offensive play calling is redundant, predictable, and plain out bad. The results of Thursday nights game is prove that the current approach doesn't work and caused us the game. I am willing to give the defense more time due to personnel changes and key losses to the secondary. ( same thing could be said about the WR group but unlike the secondary they exceeded expectations).

2. I read an article where GOL was bragging about his run and pound philosophy eluding that they would go back to this approach. Right of the bat I knew that this meant a detour to the pre-Taffee offense. It is the inability to create effective drives from the most skilled players (JH and WR) on a consistent basis that will doom this team and the fact that GOLs philosophy is more important than the facts on the ground sort of speak.

Mean like that Charlie Taaffe offense in 2010 where UCF averaged 4.4 yds per carry and 188 yds rushing per game?

Mean like that Charlie Taaffe offense in 2011 where UCF averaged 4.3 yds per carry and 167 yds rushing per game?

Mean like that Charlie Taaffe offense in 2012, where UCF averaged 4.8 yds per carry and 182 yds rushing per game?

Mean like that Charlie Taaffe offense in 2013, where UCF averaged 4.4 yds per carry and 160 yds rushing per game?

It sounds to me that you missed most of UCF's Charlie Taaffe offensive seasons from the past.

NOTE: 2014 was UCF's worst rushing attack under Taaffe as UCF averaged just 3.2 yds per carry and 128 yds per game.

Give me the pre- Taaffe numbers and read the last sentence from point #2 wise guy.

Well, since you never bothered to look up most of the seasons under Charlie Taaffe, this could be a good lesson for you to do your own research, especially before starting a thread on a subject that you obviously didn't know the facts.

Trust me, it won't hurt and will probably just take you a few seconds to find out those stats on your own.

we had the right players on the offensive line and a good mix of RB talent back then, thus the success in the running game, which in terms helped the passing game as well, there's where that last sentence comes in handy. GOLs approach seems to be run first even if you don't have a good O'line or standout RB. Oh wait we have a good QB and WRs well let's run anyway. Go watch Thursdays game again and see in real life terms what my point is. Keep in mind that good Coaching doesn't only consist of pre game planning, it also consists of making adjustments during the game to build play calling upon strengths not your weaknesses. I doubt we would have had the same results if Taaffe were here.

I agree with your last statement...as maybe Charlie would have picked up the pace during a series (putting holman in the gun, similar to the last drive).

UCF's OL definitely still has issues (similar to last year) and hopefully they will improve in the coming weeks as Holman will need help...as more teams might double cover Akins andfor Smith...knowing they can stop UCF run game with just 6 or 7 in the box.

This team is only going as far as the offensive line takes it. Case closed.

......Captain Obvious.

I want Taafe back, but I doubt it is realistic (maybe if he gets more control? ). He really made our offense look more in synch and not as predictable. Clearly FIU knew the run was on with that last drive. We couldn't move the ball and all of a sudden it was going to happen on the last drive? Just a simple swing pass or slant or anything that could get us 5-8 yards in 3 plays would likely been a win for UCF.

You guys know that Taaffe is not 'gone' right? He is still being paid by UCFAA for 'consulting' but is not play calling.

I want him directly involved. Maybe more cash?

I'm sure his level of involvement could be 'more'...but I don't see it happening both because O'Leary/Key don't want it for the most part and because Taaffe has other personal goals in his life now I'm sure.

I'll make this clear.... With the continuing idiotic decisions made by our current coaching structure, parking and getting out of the games will be a lot easier for those of us who decide to go! (as others have stated)

Well, at least it wasn't a conference game. ..................

GOL makes me sick.

Charlie has coached for 40 plus years and wanted to retire/take a break from 15 plus hour work days...and you can't blame him for that.

I'm glad he is in the booth (enjoyed him during the Spring Game) and that he is still connected to the UCF Football Program.

Predictable? you mean like the quarterback sneaks on every 3rd and 1 or 4th and 1

How do those numbers compare to Passing yards during those seasons?

When do the huggers stop hugging? Are we gonna support GOL and Key if Furman beats us...or gives us a scare? I know its late but GOL needs to take a hike right now before Furman embarrasses us.

Furman??? Really dude?? Now you are just talking ridiculous. Get back to all of us when we destroy Furman. We're not getting a scare or losing to Furman. Your hatred for GOL is making you lose a sense of reality. Come on.

Fixed it for the nuthuggers. FIU is literally the same as Furman.

Just go to ucfknights.com or use google for season stat info. Its pretty easy to do.
Thanks, asshole. I wasn't trying to disprove your point but to validate it instead, fukcface. Regardless, for those who think that Taaffe's offense was this pass-heavy scheme, I took dickface's fukcing advice and checked out Google and this is what I found:

2010: 186 passing, 188 rushing
2011: 238 passing, 167 rushing
2012: 226 passing, 182 rushing
2013: 281 passing, 160 rushing
2014: 235 passing, 128 rushing

Taaffe's offense couldn't have been more balanced. We have never been an air-it-out team, we've always been a run-first-pro-style offense. Until that offensive line can start blocking so that we can establish some sort of run game, we're going to be looking ugly for many Saturdays to come.

Man, these huggers piss me off sometimes.

2014 Furman: 3-9 with losses against FCS and FBS schools.
2014 FIU: 4-8 with losses against FCS and FBS schools.

What is the freaking difference?

Are you kidding me?? They are different levels of college football. Besides, you are comparing 2014 teams. Are we the same team as 2013 or 2014? Call me a nuthugger, cocksucker.

Different levels? If CUSAA plays football at such a high level, why were we in a hurry to jump ship? Here is another stat:

2014 Furman average home attendance: 7230 with zero P5 home games to boost attendance.
2014 FIU average home attendance: 11966 with Pitt and Louisville at home to boost attendance via fans of the opponent.

Again, what is the freaking difference? That isn't a higher level of football.

By the way, according to NCAA.org, a team is required to average at least 15,000 fans per game to be considered FBS, so technically speaking, FIU isn't even FBS. FIU = Furman. At best.

The RBs we have now are terrible. Taj will be an improvement. The problem is OLeary will only give him 5 carries vs Stanford when he should have started the first game.
