to follow Gus to FSU
TE Randy Pittman -- chose UCF over FSU after being committed to FSU.
K Grant Riddick and P Mitch McCarthy -- FSU loses both specialists.
(Boomer to return to UCF.)
LB Xe'ree Alexander -- second leading tackler for UCF.
CB Chasen Johnson and S Christian Peterson -- Bright futures.
And of course WR Xavier Townsend ...
That last part made it all worth it.
Seriously though, I think the back story behind Gus resigning from UCF centers on the incident with Agiye Hall.
Gus had to have had knowledge of Hall's arrest and proceeded to get him enrolled at UCF anyway through UCF's football admissions office. Hall was a student at UCF for an entire semester before his enrollment was announced publicly. UCF must have had proof that Gus knew of the arrest, which in addition to the KJ Jefferson arrest (that Gus also had knowledge of), constituted unprofessional conduct, enabling UCF to fire Gus for cause.
I do not know if any of that is true. However, it simply does not make economical sense for Gus to walk away from a $12 buyout unless he knew he would lose in arbitration.
